Ours is 52", mounted to a vertical support thingy that's part of the stand. There are 3 smoky glass shelves the same width of the tv, and the tv looks like it's sort of floating above. It worked out better than I expected.

Re: HDTV have you wall mounted?

We've only mounted one, at work. Pretty simple until it came time to hang the TV. It is mounted about 12 feet above the floor, which lead to a nightmare moment when we found ourselves at the top of two ladders, just a bit short of being able to drop it in the slot. We lived, the TV is still affixed to the wall, but it wasn't fun.

We've had mounts for couple of years for two TVs at home, that we'll get around to one of these days years.

We did have one of them (the one in the living room) mounted before we moved about a year and a half ago. However, both of ours have been on TV stands ever since.

I wanted the living room one to be mounted again when we first moved, but I actually like it better on the stand now that I am used to it. I dont think either of them will be mounted again.

We have a 52" rear screen projection HD model. It stands about 5 feet tall, so we can not mount it. The bigger issue is that we have a very small home and the TV has been displaced by an upright piano. So the Piano is now in the former location of the TV. The TV is now rolling around in the middle of the living room. In the way.

The desire is to replace it with a similar sized flat screen and mount it above the piano... but I honestly can't see spending $800 to replace something that doesn't REALLY need to be replaced.

When we do get one...it will be on a stand. Don't like the idea of not being able to change things around when we want to easily.

wall mount = pretty but often very impractical for the newbies.

    1) where do you put your stuff like a bluray player, stereo, etc
    2) People spend all this money on a big LCD, and then play the audio through some crap TV speakers because they don't want to wire up the other stuff
    3) People often hang them like a picture, rather then a TV. So they hang them too high, or in bad locations

It's a nice clean look if you are willing to invest properly and have somewhere to put your gear.. but I love seeing people with the LCD on the wall and all the cables hanging down below it.

I still only have a micro rear projection, so my stuff is on a stand.

Re: HDTV have you wall mounted?

I have to agree with you flynnibuss. At one time I had a full 5.1 Dolby Digital set up with my TV, but as more and more of my entertainment media migrates to my desktop, various pieces of audio gear have been retired.

At this point only the DVD player is hooked up to the TV (mainly because the TV is in the middle of the living room)

When we do eventually replace the TV, we will mount it on the wall (and hide the wires)and yes it will be too high, but the Piano gets more use in our home than the TV at this point.

...another reason why blue ray makes no sense in our home, we are scaling back on TV time in our home as the kids get older and have different interests (music, dance, freinds, Facebook, iPods) and don't care about 5.1 surround sound, bonus features, resolution, storage capacity ect.

I feel the same way. We haven't purchased our plasma TV yet, but we do plan to have it mounted, and all the cables run correctly. I don't consider myself the typical home theater person though. Even my current big box Panasonic HD set is wired to 3 DVRs a DVD player, VHS, surround receiver that loops all video signals to any machine I want ... and a AV transmitter to send any of the machines upstairs. Most of that will be moved into a wall cabinet which we may have built, with the addition of a blu-ray player once the TV is mounted. If I'm not using every input and output connection on every component I feel like I'm not getting full use of the equipment.
