By far the best is the new Jenny Craig commercial with Kirstie Alley where she is spotted in the street at night by a posse of hunks who remark how hot she is and they break into a musical number.

The finale where they toss her straight into the air and she does a triple sommersault is amazing. What talent!

I haven't been that impressed with a celebrity in a commercial since James Earl Jones did all that break dancing a few years ago.

    Just astonishing.

I ment this thred to be focused on the intel chips in Macs, not the actuall comercial itself....yet it is kind of a funny commercial.

Where's the humor? Wherever the Processer is - it will be doing dull tasks. And I hardly feel my 3Ghz P4 is wasted - I've been doing a lot of video work lately. And the Centrino platform has been the best thing that has ever happened to laptop's, including mine.

I find it disgusting to even think they are going to stick an Intel chip in a MAC. Intels are so substandard. My G4 dances circles around my PC.

That has more to do with the underlying chipset architecture combined with the overlying OS than it does the processor. Since Apple will still be in control of those, keeping them top-notch, I don't expect much of a problem.

The dual core technology means an instant performance improvement, it will remain to be seen how much and if it's an improvement over Motorolla. But more intriguing to me is the prospect of Windows emulation. With an Intel at the core, one would presume they'll be able to port over a Windows emulator FAR more seemlessly than ever. Suddenly, the "but all the programs I need are Windows only" cry from consumers will no longer be an obsticle for Mac sales if one can own a Mac AND nearly seemlessly run Windows programs.

People are already working on it. Read macrumors.com for more info. Heres a clip from the website.
"One reader notes that the new Intel Macs use EFI instead of BIOS. And that Windows XP 32bit does not support EFI at this time, so booting Windows XP may not be possible directly"

However, Vista supports EFI right out of the box, so dual-booting later this year will be a no-brainer for me.

EFI is the Intel Mac's BIOS.

Heh, I wasn't even thinking as far as dual boot (but not a bad option either). Even before that, it should, in theory, benefit VirtualPC and the ilk.

The problem is, is that any virtual solution still runs slow, even on a x86/x64 processor. Plus, the lack of not being able to emulate a graphics card allows for no gaming on a virtual pc solution at all. What needs to be written, is something like WINE for Mac OS, a direct emulation of the windows calls, instead of a whole computer.

Now that right there would be a reason to buy Vista.....dual boot Mac/PC combo. *drools*.....I'll get my Mac OS and my Gaming PC all in one nice system.

Yes, well Vista Sales will benifit from another Market Being Opened up.

Microsoft have said they are happy to have another Windows Compadible computer on the market, and I have a sneaking suspision that Microsoft will bundle the relevant drivers with Vista so it runs out of the Box on any Mac, and make that fact known.
