    Disabling Mouse Buttons?

Long story short, I have a new mouse at work. This one's too big for my hand (please refrain from ergo comments, thanks). It also has buttons on the sides that srve as back and forward buttons. Those two things together means that I'm always accidently pressing the side buttons and a lot of times i'll mess up what i'm doing and have to restart.

Is there any way I can disable those buttons? I DID look at the mouse options in the Control Panel but all I see is changing it to left/right hand clicking. This might be something I have to get out help desk involved in, but I'd rather not unless I absolutely need to.

    Thank you!

    Re: Disabling Mouse Buttons?

For $10 you can get a new (basic) mouse at the computer store and not have to worry about the too-big mouse at all.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Well I can suggest only the easy way out. Buy a new mouse at the local K-Mart, Target, Wal Mart or whatever. because all mouses, no matter who made your computer or the mouse, can hook up to any computer and operate on all computers. .

It's my work mouse, so I can't just buy another. You have to login as an admin to install the drivers. (Whole OTHER story about my old mouse and why I don't want to go to tech support with this. Or how we're so restricted at doing ANYTHING it's freakin' ridiculous!).

    So, yeah

How about glueing the buttons. Try super glue.

10 would be nice and late! LB likes!

Well, first, it's company property so I can't destory it. Second, glueing down the button wuuld mean the button's always pessed... Maybe Gluing it UP would help.

    Re: Disabling Mouse Buttons?

You should be able to go into the mouse properties and disable whatever functions/buttons you want from there. Or assign them different options. Hope this helps.
