    Wink Camera

Hey there everyone! So I am trying to find a nice new digital camera for a trip I am taking back to my hometown in Sicily. I have a few that I think look "ok" The Nikon coolpix s5, Sony cyber shot w70, Casio Exilim ....
Does anyone know if these are good cameras? Any suggestions??? I really have no idea when it comes to Megapixles and all that. I just know I want to take really sharp photos because my mac has a feature in I Photo that lets me make a photo book. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!

Well, in that case... how much are you willing to spend and learn? And how much time do you have?

im in love with canon cameras. i had a little canon powershot a95 and it was fabulous. its dying now though. i think i used it a bit too much (an average of 4 days a week for a year and a half would be a bit much, i 'spose). im lookin at the new canon powershot a700. it looks nice. and affordable for me.

    Re: Camera

I'd suggest looking at bigger lenses than those... you won't be sorry. Check out these links:

I tried to keep in your budget with the links.... Bigger lens means better optical zoom. ALWAYS turn off the digital zoom!!! I have no personal experience with the above models, but I have used one of the Kodak EasyShares that's similar -- it is pretty decent.

Use that to start with... then if you get more serious about photography, upgrade to some vintage film cameras.

I second Canon products. Canon is the only camera that's pretty much gauranteed to have CMOS image processor. CCD is the more common and lesser quality. CMOS has less grain, which is probably part of what you want.

    Re: Camera

Why? Better quality than the little things they stick on those high-priced toys, better optical zoom.

And I would go for a Canon product over anything else. And Canon usually has manual controls, which means it's a good camera for creative control. And it has CMOS.

What would I go for if I had $35,000 for a digital camera? A Hasselblad. Germans make the best cameras and cars.

That site has a page set up for the Casio, but guess it's too new for them to have a review... so try this first impressions review: http://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/con...ns-Review-.htm

    Re: Camera

When i buy anything I look at reviews and compare them with the features i want. I guess it's ok to ask people you really don't know for advice, btu all you'll get is their personal prefernces, which may not be what you want or need.

Personally I would never go back to film. I have loved and still love the olympus cameras. My last one was 3 megaspixels...i think and it made decent prints up to 8x10. I have switched to a canon SLR recently. I love the canon brand as well. When it comes down to it choose what you like. I would also go to the store and see how user friendly they are and how they feel when your holding them. Alot of people feel the Canon SLR I have is to small and light. I didn't take their word for it. i went and decided for myself and I LOVE it....

all I want is a 5 megpixel camera with panaramic. anything out there that will not cost me an arm and leg? I want to do wide shots, and there hasd got to be a camera under 200.00 that does panaramic right?

I suggest buying some film cameras and plenty of film, too... film people really need LOTS of support right now.
