How can I capture footage from my DVD player onto my camera?

I know theres a way to do it but I'm not savvy in this area.Of course, when I hook my camera to the DVD player it says something about copyright so I know I can't do it that way....I've heard stuff about using capture cards but I'm not sure how that even works. I have PC.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do. You want to play dvd's through your camera? Why?

Lemme rephrase. I'm trying to put footage from my DVD on my camera so I can edit it...Record the DVD to my camera. I had a friend who was able to and edit movie footage.

That seems like the hard way of editing video. Just use video capture and/or editing software. Movie Maker that comes in Windows does just fine for simply editing video.

You need something like Canopus Procoder 2.

Don't you need the VOB file?

. BUP = Backup files of the IFO files.
. IFO = The IFO files includes information such as chapters, subtitle tracks and audio tracks.
. VOB = The VOB files contains the actual video, audio, subtitles and menus.
