Exclamation Disney Adds to iTunes Podcasts - Discussion.

Disney Adds to iTunes Podcasts with ABC News, ESPN and Disney online. Next month they will also add more kids content from Radio Disney and one-minute soap operas from Soapnet.

I personally do not own and iPod but I would like to know what you all think. Would you listen? Is this a good/bad move for Disney?

I'm already subcribed to one, but you know, you don't at all need an iPod to get Podcasts. The episodes are delivered to iTunes, and if you have an iPod they are put onto it during the sycing process.

Oh I know, but I was just saying that I would really only listen to them on an iPod. To be honest if getting news updates and such through there would be one of the only reasons why I would actually contimplate purchasing one. That or a hand-me-down.

I have subscribed to all 3 of them (there are 3 as of current moment), they are all right.....I still prefer Mousepod.
RadioDisney content will be interesting. I used to listen to RadioDisney when I was younger, but then they booted off Just Plain Mark and Zippy and stopped broadcasting from Disneyland and I kind of lost interest. They also turned more into a Pop station then a disney station. Sort of the disneychannel effect if you will. Stupid tweens!

Apple's PodCast support has been pretty crummy so far, I think. I don't know much about Podcasts until it came out but I'm catchign on pretty quick and seeing the limitations and problems and conflicts that are inherent in their system.

I can't see it in the long run being anything more than a very good jumping-on point for people who don't know what it's about.

And I want to hit whoever chose the name "podcast." What a terrible misomner for something that doesn't require an iPod.

One thing's for certain, though. Apple's marketing sure works. I only did one podcast in June (at the very beginning of the month), and on June 28, four weeks after the show debuted, I had almost 6GB of traffic on my site. Scary.

(Oh yeah, there's a new show up today)

I'll give mousepod that. The name itself, 'podcast' has become instantly recongizable with Apple, and the iPod itself. I'm a huge supporter of the Podcast movement, however, this Apple thing, IMHO, gives them a bit too much credit. It was a user thing, and I kinda critize Apple for is that they try to make it their own, but whatever. WMP11 will support what Microsoft is now calling "RSS Based Media Feeds", and it wil become widestream. Regarding Disney jumping on the bandwagon, I think it's great. Can't wait to see what other stuff they come up with the parks, however.

They should make Theme Park Podcasts or Attraction Podcasts! I would have gigs of them...lol!

so far, the "offical" podcasts are LAME! Less then 5 minutes of audio content does not equal a podcast. They are just really long ads. Heck, the Disney Insider podcast contains the exact same content as the Disney Insider email newsletter!

However, the Happiest Homecoming podcasts put together by the resort are really good. They should be striving for more podcasts like that!

I give mousepod my seal of approval, and not just because I got a cool pin from him

The official Disney podcasts are LAME. Nothing of real substance is given. It's all repourposed PR. Not my cup of tea. At least they are short and be quickly forgotten. Even though it needs some work, The Mousepod is leagues better than these lame excuses for podcasts.
