    Firefox: yes or no?

Is there any reason I should be downloading Firefox to use instead of IE? Pros? Cons?

No. I tried it and didn't like it, went back to IE. Too slow, with firefox it feels like the graphics were downloading one at a time.

    Re: Firefox: yes or no?

I've been using firefox for awhile now and it's ok. I agree that the loading seems extremely slow and it seems to be pretty unstable too. The add-ons are pretty useful, but I do need to start using IE7 again and see what they are offering there.

If you do use Firefox, I suggest the colorful tabs, cool iris and download bar add-ons as well as adblock plus.

    Re: Firefox: yes or no?

I just recently switched over to Firefox. My brother-in-law said it's less likely to get a virus, adware, and things of that sort through Firefox, because they would have to wrote a different program to send it through Firefox.

To me, changing from IE 7 to Firefox, was simple. I even believe my laptop runs faster using Firefox than IE.

I've been using Firefox for two years now. I love it. It is my browser of choice. There are some things I can't do with Firefox and than I just bring up IE and close it when I am done. I reccomend Firefox for the security alone.

See, this is what I am hearing and why I am reluctant.

Why? Explanation please as to why you are so gung-ho on it. If it is just for security, that reason is not good enough (so far).

I have been using Firefox for some time and it works faster on my laptop that IE. I love it. And I also heard that it is safer from viruses (at least for now)

    Re: Firefox: yes or no?

I've been using Firefox for years and find it far more stable than IE ever was. There are a few things that don't support it, so for those I go to IE and then back. At first, my favorite feature was just that I could browse in tabs. Then I noticed that it never crashed on me, it was faster than IE both at work and at home, Malware was pretty non-existant and popups weren't an issue. I still use it at work.

However, this was all before IE7. At home, I use it now. I haven't had any issues with it yet and I can browse in tabs with it, too, now.

    Re: Firefox: yes or no?

FF is faster then IE6. IE7 closed the gap.

Firefox is more secure because it doesn't include some of the very powerful OS integration features that IE had... that were easily exploited. IE7 addresses this with more fixes, and more warnings when they are attempted.

IE is a larger target to exploit. It's the same reason Macs were 'more secure'.. they are by default when no one bothers trying to exploit them due to the small installed base and worms die if they can not propogate.

Firefox has a great extension model leading to cool tools.

Some websites still require IE for compatibility, but that number is shrinking all the time.

Firefox is way better then IE6 - IE7 closed the gap. I still recommend Firefox as your primary browser and using IE7 as required for compatibility.

    Re: Firefox: yes or no?

Okay. I've had about eight pop ups in a year and half of having it. I've never had spyware or adware, which I got quite a bit with IE. I find Firefox's interface is more organised and less fiddly then IE. The add-ons are remarkably useful. When it crashes, which is extremely extremely rare, when you press the Firefox button immediately it takes you back to the page you were at when you crashed.

    That's why I'm gung-ho on Firefox.

And btw, I don't think it would do much harm to just download the thing, try it out and delete it if you don't like it.

I use both Firefox & IE but prefer Firefox. It's much more secure than IE.
