iPhone Web Apps Now Available thru Apple

    Introducing web apps for iPhone.

With web apps for iPhone, the power of the Internet meets the brilliance of multi-touch. And suddenly, iPhone can do that much more.
Flick through lists of news articles on Digg. Play games like Sudoku and Bejeweled with the touch of a finger. Easily view movie times, train schedules, and blogs.
Web apps donít just extend the functionality of iPhone and iPod touch, they do it in style. Since web apps are websites designed specifically for the 3.5-inch screen, youíll find the viewing experience amazing.
    Getting Started.

Itís easy to browse web apps and select and organize your favorites. Just visit www.apple.com/webapps on your iPhone. Browse the library, and when you find a web app you like, tap the link and try it out. If you like the web app, be sure to bookmark it for quick access later.

Apple launches official iPhone, iPod touch Web apps directory
    By AppleInsider Staff
    Published: 04:00 PM EST

Apple on Thursday afternoon launched as part of its website an official directory of iPhone and iPod touch Web applications, reinforcing its stance that third-party developers should focus their developmental efforts on Web 2.0 applications that function only under the embedded version of its Safari browser.

The move, anticipated by AppleInsider earlier this week, underscores the Cupertino-based firm's commitment to maintaining the security and integrity of its mobile Mac OS X platform by disallowing native application development by anyone other than itself.

The new applications directory, fashioned after the company's official Dashboard widget list, includes over 200 third-party Web-based applications optimized for either the iPhone or iPod touch -- which share a similar hardware makeup.

The Apple directory breaks applications down into categories such as Games, News, Sports and Weather. Each application listing provides a short description of that application's function, the name of its developer, associated web addresses, and the date the application was approved and posted to the official company list.

Apple encourages developers to submit their Web applications to the directory and provide feedback on the current concept. The company also provides a guide explaining how developers can get started writing Web applications for the iPhone and iPod touch.

I was playing with an iPhone again at the AT&T store tonight. They're fun and dang hard to put down. But I still want a Blackberry.

Unfortunately, it doesn't end once you bring it home. The new iTunes update and some of the Web Apps have become very addicting.

Definitely a good reason not to purchase an iPhone and to stick with a Blackberry.
As Apple continues to update the software, there may be a time when the iPhone can offer what you need it to.

I already have a ton of web apps saved to a special folder in Safari.

Not all of the web apps are free. I only bookmarked the ones that are free. Once Splash Data gets their act together to create a web app version of SplashShopper for the iPhone, my life will be complete.

The iPhone is the absolute coolest toy I have ever had the pleasure of owning. I am even getting used to the quirkiness of the Edge network. I have better reception with the iPhone than I have had with any other phone. I especially love that if it ever has any issues, I can get a loaner phone from Apple while my iPhone is being fixed.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

I had no idea, thanks for the info.

I remember the very first time the iPhone froze on me; I was on a plane headed for Disneyland to celebrate my birthday. I did not know how to reset the phone at the time, so I just thought it was stuck for good. Then as we were checking in at the DLH front desk, I realized I had lost my debit card!

So there I was, with a $700.00 paperweight and no debit card and I hadn't even made it into the park yet.

I took care of the card issue with B of A and left my phone in the room hoping that once it ran out of battery juice, it would reset itself. (Once again, not knowing about the very convenient reset feature).

I came back to the room that night and thankfully the iPhone had shut off and reset itself.

It all ended up working out fine but that was one hell of an experience for what was supposed to be a stress free birthday trip.
