No problem. yeah, I'd just be really alert and cautious around them, and try to keep a good distance from them, too, so they don't hurt you, damage your camera, or get you in trouble

Thanks Yeah, I don't really like the phrase forgive and forget. I think we should remember all the experiences in our life, because they make us who we are. Even bad experiences like that, they'll remind me I can get through stuff like that and just ignore rude people

Re: The School Thread

I'm not in a "real" school this year, but at school last year people probably thought I was weird. I don't really show that I love all things Disney, but I have a ton of Alice in Wonderland stuff. For example, my phone has the Cheshire Cat all over it, I have an Alice bag, and my wallet is now Alice too. Last year I did my themed photography project on Alice in Wonderland, since I know so much about it an it would be unique. People thought that was kind of strange, since they were doing stuff like "reflections" and "elements" and "children," but I ended up getting a wonderful score on it, my teacher kept it as an example, and I took some super-awesome photos.

Re: The School Thread

I suppose it's sometime frustrating when the few people that I know and go to school with, actually care about or know a thing or two about Disney. No one that I know at school is as excited as I am about Disney.

Ah come on...freshman year isn't that bad.

...sophomore year is the one that tries to kill ya. (kidding.) ...although, sophomore year was ridiculously difficult for me.

Re: The School Thread

I had someone in my culinary class spit in my face on Friday. Being that I have a short fuse, it got a little ugly. People need to grow up and learn to be respectful. 1 year of kindergarten, 6 years in elementary school, 2 years in a junior high, 4 years in high school and 2 years of a community college...and people still think it's ok to be downright rude.

Re: The School Thread

high school was never truly fun for me...im stil not sure why people go the rest of thier lives thinking those were the best years of thier life...(for me...i think it was elementry school lol)

anways,

i always got the funny look when i talked about disney and how in depth i was about it. people thought i was stuck in a little kids world. they didnt realize how complex it is and how "adult" it can be.
okay now skip towards the end my senior year:
all of our seniors worked on a project the entire year on whatever we wanted. learn how to ride a motorcyle...research on teen pregancy...whatever. i did mine on disney's impact on american society for my 12 page paper, and then my project was a 3D aniamted trailer of my own disney themed movie. the day before graduation we held an awards cermony for best project.
out of 500 kids and projects, mine was number 1. hell yes. they showed my "film" and in my year book everyone told me how they will be looking for me in the credits of the next disney films.
to be honest i felt amazing. i did what i was truly passionate about and i had fun.

heres my movie trailer if u were interested: (its not even close to disney quailty but have u realized how hard it is to make a 3d movie?!)

Re: The School Thread

High School is annoying though.

I feel small compared to other people, god darn they are huge!

And the types of stuff we are learning. It's crazy!

Re: The School Thread

I would just like to say,
my english teacher is terrible.
She doesn't teach,
tells us about her various drug addictions in the 60's,
can't control the class,
has no crudentials,
and prior to being my english teacher was a librarian.
Please, California public schools,
get some real teachers.

Carry on.

My geometry teach is fat, drinks Coke at 7:30 in the morning, and doesn't show us how to do anything! X(

Re: The School Thread

I'm in 8th grade and I recently moved to Geneva, Switzerland from California...sigh. Anyway, I had to leave my old middle school which was sort of a safety blanket for me. Now I'm in a secondary school with other foreign students who are forced to speak French (yeah, you can tell I'm in a bit of a pickle right now). "Welcome Classes" - It's basically a program that focuses more on learning the languages so you can move on to regular school. Most of the students already know how to speak French so everyone treats me like an idiot for only knowing how to speak English. I actually thought European students would be more well-behaved by the looks of how calm the country is. Oh boy, that'll teach me not to judge a book by its cover.

Another thing that really annoys me is the way these kids are brought up. It seems to me that all the girls here just love being the superficial princesses that they are. It's kind of amusing when the only girl who doesn't carry a bootleg handbag is you. C'mon, they're cute and all but you might as well go for the real thing if you're trying that hard to grow up. Don't even get me started about the heels. GAAAAAG.

Oh, and if you didn't know this before, Europeans practically worship cigarettes...guess who has to put up with kids walking into class smelling like an ashtray? Woe is me.

I'm fond of how this experience is actually an effective way to learn French, BUT SERIOUSLY? Does the student body have to be THIS awful? I was asking my mom if I could be homeschooled and she thinks I'm just overreacting. Dude, I actually LIKE going to school. I like meeting new people and observing things...but I think I've seen enough. Why would I want to "act" miserable if all I get is lack of social practice?

I need to get out of here. No American cable, lack of resources, and NO DISNEYLAND. The closest thing I have is Disneyland Paris, which sucks to an extent too painful to describe.

wow thats pretty intense! junior high/high school is bad enough without the added foreign country... what did you move to switzerland for? just try to hang in there any hopefully some you can find some good friends that share your same set of values. In the mean time you've always got tons of people here on micechat that would love to be your friend!!

Re: The School Thread

My mom said the purpose of moving here was for my step-dad, who works at the UN. I doubt it. We had a trip here over the summer and I think the real reason we moved is because my mom became obsessed with the country.

I've been finding comfort in Micechat, but I end up reading all the trip reports and feeling even worse ;P
