TOKYO -- Oriental Land, which operates Tokyo Disney Resort in the Tokyo suburb of Urayasu, will build an indoor amusement center in cooperation with Disney.
Oriental Land has not yet decided on a site but is scouting for a location in a major city outside the Tokyo metro region. Possible candidates include Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka. The center is skedded to open sometime in or after 2010. If the first center does good biz, Oriental Land plans to open more around the country.
Attractions will include Disney shows, restaurants and stores largely targeting families and women. Oriental Land plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in the project but will be a tenant, not an owner, of the center site.
