    TDL's Disney's Halloween 2005

hey everyone!! TDL launches one of it's most enjoyable annual events with the debut of Disney's Halloween 2005 beginning on Sept 12th (same day HKDL opens to the public)

This year... the halloween event takes on a Cinderella feel with Mickey and Minnie in regal Prince and Princess Halloween outfits. The Hub's ornamental centerpiece will be a scene straight out of Cinderella, in which Minnie is seen riding her own (Halloween jack-o-lanter) pumpking carriage, complete with Mickey by her side and ghosts pulling on the carriage. Very cute and pretty. Each garden around the hub will feature a different 3D scene featuring the other Disney characters in their halloween costumes, plus several benches will be installed around the Hub, where guests can sit and have their photo taken with happy ghosts dressed as Mickey or Minnie. The parade will play twice daily to the delight of the guests.

As always.. TDL will feature exclusive merchandise in the shops, in the food carts (I *gotta* have the popcorn bucket and souvenir mousse cup) and also in the restaurants...where Halloween only set menus will be offered. On the side...other exclusive Halloween merchandise will feature Marie in witch costume and Stitch.

You can see it all here on the TDL official halloween site, but be warned...it's all in japanese, but don't be affraid and play with the links (you can always hit "back" if you end up in a page you don't care to see). These links feature exclusive TDL Halloween downloads, the TV commercial, photos of the merchandise and set menus and also previews of the new decorations around the Hub, plus other activities..such as guests being welcomed to show up in their favorite Disney character costume. It should be FUN FUN FUN!! Guests entering the park on debut day Sept 12th will recieve a free Halloween fastener!!

    Enjoy the link:

    Exclamation Photos Are Here!!!!!!

    Hello everyone...

Well the season for ghosts, witches and the like is upon us and TDL is now in full Halloween mode. Sept 12th was the official debut of TDL's Disney Halloween and the crowds have returned to TDR in full force.

This year's theme is wacky and silly and very un-scary... "Pumpkin Kingdom". The entire park has been taken over pumpkins of all shapes and sizes and they are making sure you see orange everywhere you look.

This year...a very Cinderella-like centerpiece adorns the Hub, and the parade (while a bit odd) features brand new music and some new floats with some older ones totally revamped with new sets to make this parade as different and silly as possible. I did enjoy some clever takes on popular pop culture in some of the parade floats.. but they come quick and if you are not paying attention, you miss them (reason why you need to read the captions from time to time)

This very conprehensive pictorial (200+ pics) aims to show you most everything there is at TDL for the Halloween season, excluding the Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare, which was closed due to technical difficulties during my visit. From this year's parade, to the merchandise (find here the perfect gifts for LPers like Chrisrails and Gurgytoy2), to the nice 3D decoration around the hub, to the not so great looking banners around Westernland and Toontown, to the souvenir cups on sale at the park (the pumpkin mousse is to die for.. Huhahaha)

The event is pure Disney fun and wackyness (if a bit garish at times) and runs until Oct 31st. Best of all... you don't need to buy a special hard ticket to attend unlike other Disney parks around...

Love those pictures! Wow!!! TDL really goes all out during halloween. It seems like there's no part of the park that is not decorated. Oh and the merchandise that they have there. Gotta have them soon!

Is the soundtrack still being released on Wednesday? I pre-ordered a cd from amazon.co.jp. Anyone know about how long it takes them to deliver? Thanks so much!

    Have a great day,

I was told it is already on sale at the park. Unless there are any delays, the cd should be on sale wednesday the 28th as shown on the Disney records Japan site:

does WDW's castle even have those two towerish things?

they look like they'd be cool lining up with the castle and all

    Re: TDL's Disney's Halloween 2005

Thanks for the compliments... You'd be surprised to know there is artwork on the floors in that area...such as the tile portraits of Cinderella's mice friends and the stagecoach in the center, but are hard to see here.
To answer your question, the two towers (no relation to the Lord of the Rings) are there for technical purposes, as they house the lighting system and control room used during TDL's castle forecourt mage stage productions. The top of the towers also hold the CM-operated spot lights used during castle stage shows. Note that the towers both have cutout windows...they slide open when they are needed to allow the lighting systme to be used and also to allow control room operators to view the entire stage during shows.

Over at WDW... they do not have these towers, but the lighting system is exposed on either side of the MK's forecourt stage, or covered only with long wide banners.

Also note one more thing... the entire circular hub at the MK does fit in the area you see photographed in that link up above... In other words... TDL's hubs and castle forecourt are HUGE!!!

My guess is MONEY. It takes a lot of effort from many groups in marketting, merchandise and entertainment to put these events together. Somehow...OLC still manages to do this flawlessly because they know they have a local audience to entice, hence, the investments on this type of seasonal events.

    I second that.

In Japan, the turn-out during the non-summer months can dip greatly since
Japanese do not really travel for "vacation" during the non-summer months. So it's
just good business for OLC to have elaborate events/shows which entice
local people to come in during these non-peak time of the year. Of course,
Tokyo metropolitan area has a huge population, so this is still a huge market.
