Really?? "Soarin'" is not happening? GOOD!! I think it is the most overrated movie ever presented by Disney. Toy Story Mania I can dig, so bring it on.

Re: Bird's Eye View of TDR

^Uh... what?

Overrated?

Sorry, I'm not gonna get into this, but Soarin' is an amazing attraction. Period. Soundtrack=perfect. technology=perfect. placement=perfect.

One thing, though. soarin' in other parks=not so perfect. Soarin' Over California is the original attraction's name, and only fitting name. I don't think it could even fit in a park like DisneySea. California is where it was made for, that's where it belongs. /Rant.

But where is TSM proposed to go? How could it possibly fit into DisneySea? If not in DisneySea, then where in TDL?

Sorry, but you are getting into this. All those aspects of 'Soarin' are nice but, when it comes down to basics.. it just a movie.

Reason why I do not want it to go into a near perfect park like TDS.

Agree with you in all accounts there. However, rumors floated around about the "Soaring" attraction being different than DCA/EPCOT's versions, with a totally different movie, and themed to Michael Angelo's flying machines, since it was to have been placed close to the Roman Ruins, nearby the Fortress Explorations.. so the theming for this new version would have been pretty much in tune with the Mediterranean Harbor section of TDS.

The ride could fit nicely into the American Waterfront section of the park, as it represents a turn of the 20th century NYC by the Port. Remember, TOT is there and has nothing in it that is seaworthy. Yet, the storyline attaches it somewhat to the area and setting.

Tough call. Fantasyland maybe? But when you take the "time frame" represented in that attraction, even victorian World Bazaar could host it, but that would require a major renovation and re-design of the area.. Or maybe Toontown could be a better place? Who knows.

Re: Bird's Eye View of TDR

There's always the "No man's land" between World Bazzar and Tomorrowland where the Monsters Inc. building is.

Monsters Inc is in Tomorrowland. You can call it "no man's land" but the theme around it IS pure TL to me, and that is how it will show in the guidemaps beginning in mid-april.

Re: Bird's Eye View of TDR

I think the proposed Mt. Fuji ride that was supposed to go in the Japan pavillion at epcot will be awesome at DisneySea and it would fit in the perfect spot in the corner in the Lost River Delta by the Indiana Jones ride. what do you think?

Re: Bird's Eye View of TDR

Two mountains at TDS? I don't know about that. Besides.. on clear days, you can very well see Mt. Fuji rising behind TDR in the distance. It would be redundant to have a fake Fuji, when the real one is there to be seen.

Re: Bird's Eye View of TDR

Thats really cool! I can see that there is room for an 8th port, Atlantis sounds like it could make a great addition to the park. I think it is a rumour though...

Wouldn't that apply to that big volcano that is already IN the park (which can be seen along with Mt Fuji on a clear day as you mentioned)?

You must not have very good eyesight. That area is hardly "pure" tomorrowland, since it is right next to World Bazaar (and the forward facing shop fronts), along with the design of World Bazaar being prevalent in the adjacent baby center, along with a nice view of the Hub and the Castle to boot!

"pure"? Really? I suppose if you force yourself to continually lookaway from all the views right in front of you, that works.

Hey, I have only been going to TDL for the past 20 years... and I think I would know the park's layout by now, but if it makes you happy to think Monsters inc ride is not a part of Tomorrowland... then more power to you.

Tell me about it. For the cost of the original DCA (and Grand Californian) plus the upgrades (ToT, Monsters, etc.), plus the new $1.5B infusion, minus all the R&D, engineering and development that Oriental Land bankrolled for their park, Disneyland could have had a worthy sister.

I know DisneySea was originally planned for Long Beach, and then WestCOT was floated for the 2nd Gate, and finally DCA was born; but does anyone know if DisneySea was ever considered for the park adjacent to Disneyland.
