Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

This was also one of my good memories too. I loved the little tune played in the pre-show. It was so very 60's.

I wonder what they're going to do with the old AAs?

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

Thank you so much for the photos and report. We were so happy that we were able to see it one last time. So sad to see it go.

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

We've read about the development of lots of the attractions at the various Disney parks, but I don't recall reading anything about the development of the Mickey Mouse Revue. Who did the work? Did Blaine Gibson do the sculpts? Who did the concept art? Orchestrations, and so on?

I will miss it as well.

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

The closest I remember seeing this is before it was shipped to Tokyo, they had a section of it on display in the Orlando International Airport, and I would always love being welcomed by that sight. I was sad when it vanished from the airport and I am sadder I will never get to see it in action.

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

Thanks for the videos, you all!

Some observations and questions...
  1. I like how there is a tie-in with the Snow White scene and Alice in Wonderland scene with the Fantasyland attractions at Disneyland. They are very similar, which in my opinion is a good thing.
  2. As far as the English language version is concerned, I am thinking that this comes from WDW? It would have been nice if Snow White/Alice/the Godmother had similar voices to what was in the movies.
  3. What's up with the gorilla playing the xylophone? I don't seem to remember seeing a gorilla in any of the Disney classic cartoons.
  4. It almost reminds me of America Sings, how all the different scenes are edited together. This too is a good thing.
I loved these videos and even though I was not there, it really did tug on my heart strings. Too bad I never got to see it in person! I'm sure it will be missed by many.

The gorilla is King Louie from The Jungle Book.

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

It doesn't seem creepy to me at all, not sure what you are seeing andyjean.

If it has been posted already I apologize but what is MMR being replaced with? Hopefully there is a plan for something good.

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

I have a chance to visit Mickey Revue last year on July. Although it's not too much effect or high technical same lastest attraction in present, but i think it's very classic attraction for Disneyland, and can make me back to old style when disneyland openning.

Thanks for the comments on the video. I took it in 2002 when Cinderella Castle was still light blue. At that time, we were able to use tripods inside the attraction.

"Mickey's Philharmagic" is opening in 2011 at the same site as this attraction.

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

Thanks for the pics TDLFan. I think the entrance to this attraction shows that the "tournament / fair tent" style theming of Fantasyland attraction entrances can look very good. I know many people don't like this style...but I think with sufficiently high level of detail, the right color scheme, and high grade materials...this style can work well.

Re: Sayonara MICKEY MOUSE REVIEW :(

^ With the large budget assigned to Philharmagic (and the fact that they're building a new store as part of it), I'm hoping its lengthy frontage will be getting the DLP or DL treatment to replace the plastic tent/"fairgrounds" look. I hear OLC has been itching to make these kinds of changes to FL facades for some time.

Okay, thanks, now that you mention that I think I did here that before and just couldn't remember if that was going to replace MMR, like it eventually did inFlorida, or go into another part of the resort. Even though I enjoy Philharmagic I can see it in Florida I still was really hoping to actually visit this unique attraction that Tokyo still had.
