I'm a huge fan of Shiriki Utundu - just way too cool.

Wait, is that not what we're talking about? What's going on here?

Turboman--you get used to it---anytime TDLFan joins in a discussion it quickly goes the way of fighting, arguing and putting others down. Thus the reason I don't post any info about TDR on here because it would quickly get criticized by the one who is all knowing.

Turboman... welcomed to Micechat, or at least to our happy go lucky and always fun to visit TDR section. You will love our little disfuctional family. I do like Shiriki Utundu because he has a strong storyline and a most devilish grim.. which is very unDisney like. Reminds me of Pressler.

You mean, like everyone else is putting me down? I think you guys are as good as me or even better!!

Geez!! I think it's quite pathetic of you and some others here to stop posting just because you can not take criticism from other posters... very sad indeed. You know, I get criticized, chastised, and crucified all of the time for my very opinionated and strong opinions about how Disney runs their parks... and especially when my negativity stems from what I think it's Disney's not being able to deliver a product that matches the price (ahem*MK*WDSP*DHS*ahem). Many times, when I talk about Disney, many people take it personally and turn it into a personal insult because they do not agree with me or are way too much into their love for Disney. (I am guilty of that as well) The point is... I have been in the receiving end all of the time since I became involved with fansites about Disney all over the net and IT DOES NOT STOP ME FROM POSTING OR GETTING DISCOUARGED to do so... And NO, I do not claim to know everything. What little I know and how I feel about Disney, and especially things concerning TDR come from my 2 decades of visiting this resort on a monthly basis... I've been visiting TDL long before many of you even knew that there was a DL park in Japan. If you make a comment I do not agree with, I will say it. If you do not agree with anything I say, you can say it too. So please, let's stop pretending being the little "victims" and get real. This is what discussion forums are about. Honestly, I am disappointed that some of you are taking the "I can't stand the heat so I am getting out" stance. This is freaking America. Excercise your right to speach (or at least to type better than me )

So finally... to bring this topic back to track.. notice TDLFAN is not one of the options in DuffyDad's survey.. so enough about me.

Re: Who's your favorite original park character at TDR?

I agree with TDLFAN, enough of this ripping each others posts to shreds, whether we agree, or do not agree with what other members want to say, share or post on these forums.

Each and every one of us is entitled to our own views and opinions, but really shouldn't be hurtful or negative to others. I'm sure most of us has pulled each others chains from time to time, but on the whole, we move on. No one should be scared away from posting here & everyone has the right to skip over some of these threads that somehow are becoming offensive.

I believe Walt Disney made a comment years ago and I don't know if I'm quoting him correctly, but every story needs a good villain, and we do have a few here, but I feel that this keeps these forums alive and vibrant. It does get a tad carried away at times- like this one has, but all in all it's more mean spirited fun like the Haunted Mansion, but no one here really means to hurt anyone in the process.

But, yes- we should bring this thread back on track & stop these attacks on one another.

I feel that there should be a few more characters added to this list-yet, my personal vote is a toss up between DuffyDad and TDLFAN- both have been brave, worthy and true, and have battled well on this site. Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo Disney Sea are very lucky to have at least 2 such loyal fans who love visiting their parks.

Duffy will be proud to have such loving devoted fans as DuffyDad and Gurgi and TDLFAN- what else can I say, but your insights, photos, reports and experience at the Disney parks worldwide is unmatched and very well appreciated-and I know theres a good heart inside of that seemingly gruff exterior-and I'm glad you're a part of these forums.

Let's get back to the fun & sharing stories with each other.

And remember, "the 'mouse' will be with us....always"

Re: Who's your favorite original park character at TDR?

Mr. JediMaster-

It's not that I can't deal with "criticism", that simply isn't practiced here. We are writing about our personal trips, asking questions, trying to learn.

What can anyone write here that's open to "criticism"? This isn't a high school poetry class. There are no "right" or "wrong" trip reports. We are not being graded whether we like 'Aquatopia' or not. TDLFAN doesn't like Duffy - that's all well and good. But instead of explaining his own opinion, he blasts the poster for being insane and challenging his "manhood". That is not criticism, nor discussion, nor in any form of civil discourse.

TDLFAN does not discuss people's opinions, he attacks people personally. This "poor little man, attacked all over the Internets" tells people they are "stupid", "idiotic", "deranged" and "pathetic". That doesn't really advance an conversation about why people may or may not enjoy 'BravSEAmo'.

That attitude has infected this entire board. People will not post here. New posters are quickly driven away. How many people have come here to post a trip report only to be slammed immediately by TDLFAN? I'm amazed Ms. AuntieBee stuck it out - others like the Dutch Couple and LeeLuvsDisney have simply disappeared.

I was hoping for a place to discuss the all aspects of the Tokyo Disney Resort. Instead I found a sandbox with a bully who thinks his insults pass a whit and his personal attacks are 'merely criticisms'. I know TDLFAN isn't going to change nor will the moderators of this board step in to create a real community.

I was hoping for a place where real crticism could be practiced - where people could share ideas, discuss the reasons behind opinion, learn more about the subject that brought us here. Instead I found the sandbox of a guy who gets his jollies by pushing people around.

Too bad.

Well, to be fair, we have no idea if they truly disappeared, or are just not avid posters, except for their trip reports. I wouldn't be so quick to say TDLFAN chased them off, unless they said something, which I didn't see. We often get new posters who come here and post a report, or some photos, and then we don't see them again for a while...I think that's just the nature of discussion boards.

Personally, I hope nobody ever leaves, because the more people in here, the more interesting it is. I've enjoyed reading your Tokyo DisneySea history posts, Another Voice, and I truly hope that you stick around, despite what you're feeling about how this place is toxic.

Also, to be quite honest, having been on other non-Disney boards, I think that by comparison, it's pretty tame here. There is not nearly the amount of personal attacking going on here as elsewhere, so I think it's just part of being on the internet. For example, I can tell you never read any comments on Youtube, AOL, or IMDB...you will come away severely depressed.

So, for anybody that is upset, please just stick it out here and we'll still have a good time.

Hahaha!! Jedimaster.. please take this as a compliment when I say.. your quote above sounds very elegant.. like something said by any of the more worthy Star Wars characters.. like Joda or Obi Wan.. Makes me pull out my lightsaver and go "avant garde!!!" Hahaha! (..and thanks for being a friend.)

Thanks for this great post, Turboman, and welcome to MiceChat. I've actually only been participating here for a few months, and still see myself as a total "n00b."^^ It's a great community with lots of really helpful, really kind people. So far, this group is the best way I've found to keep up with the Tokyo Disney Resort in English.

I love Shiriki Utundu, too. I love the whole TDS Hotel Hightower mythology. Have you checked out the website? It really is an incredible example of interactive design/marketing. That's what I love about all these park-original characters. They're not just tacked-on, but have a life and backstory. I just kinda hope they don't get their own movies, cos I think that really hurt characters from attractions like Haunted Mansion and Country Bear Jamboree who were better off just left in the parks.^^

There's even an old page (only Japanese) that more fully explores Sindbad and Chandu's story.

And, of course, Duffy's site (also Japanese).

And Rocky's/Monsters, Inc. (Japanese too).

Re: Who's your favorite original park character at TDR?

Turboman, you're allowed to come back in the room and play with us some more- Shiriki is waay cool- I loved him too the first time I visited the attraction & love his glowing eyes that you can even see in the mouth of the big hanging idol in the queue line.

TDLFAN, thanks for the cool comment as well- I've got your back.
Keep those great photos coming- I can't wait to see what they are doing this summer at the resort.

TDLFAN, I like your new avatar picture, it's so appropriate. Now you just need to add Rocky and you'll have all of the ones mentioned in the poll, LOL!

Also, I've been anticipating the CD's. I know there are 4 coming our way, with Meet & Smile, Chip & Dale's Cool Service Deluxe, Bonfire Dance, and Club M!. A busy summer, no doubt! And this is on top of the Duffy costume coming out in a couple weeks!!

Thanks - I checked out the website after you posted it in response to Aunt Bee's trip report and the kids and I have spent a lot of time on it. It's way too cool.

I'm gearing up for my first trip to TDR in October so I really appreciate all the info on this site.

I'm normally not much of a Tower of Terror fan (not so good with heights, or elevators for that matter) but there's no way I would miss this one.

Re: Who's your favorite original park character at TDR?

TDLFAN, was the Duffy in your photo one of the smaller ones from one of the past Halloween releases? I have most of the Christmas ones in the past few years & found last years Halloween one on ebay- but that one wasn't too great-

Have a great time Turboman-I'm hoping to experience Halloween at the resort as well this year- I'm sure you're going to love it in Tokyo Disney Resort.

Yeah, that website is awesome! It's like a good rainy Sunday novel! Don't worry too much about the height with ToT, though. Since it's an "elevator shaft," unlike most free-fall rides I've been on, ToT is sealed for most of the ride, so you can't see out = not scary for me. I actually find the attraction itself pretty weak, but the theming is so wonderful that I love it anyway. You mentioned elevators, too, though, so maybe you will find it a bit more thrilling. Have fun!

How cool that you're coming here! And this, as you've probably read, will be TDS's first park-wide Halloween event! What a great time to come!
