But the Phantom Manor track in question in the one with an actual vocal beginning and not just all orchestra right?
Yup, the one on the 30th CD has the vocal narration all through the track by Vincent Price. That was actually used very briefly at DLP, but withdrawn either just before official opening, or shortly after (I forget exactly which). Either way, it didn't last long in the park.

Ah, I didn't realize the original Phantom Manor track was dropped from the Haunted Mansion CD they've been selling in the past few years. The original CDs do turn up on eBay, but you should always double check and ask the seller if the Phantom Manor track is listed on the package.

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

So, I just returned from a full five days at the Tokyo Disney Resort. Lots of rain, one day of extremely high wind left over from the typhoon, and one sunny pleasant day.

The Halloween decor in Tokyo Disneyland seems a little more sparse this year: the Mark Twain had no black and orange bunting of any kind and wasn't decortated at all. Can't recall the last time I saw that during Halloween.

No trick or treat lady at Disneyland, either--only at DisneySea.

All in all, however, it was an excellent trip and the resort was superb. I went through Monsters Inc. Ride and Go Seek a half dozen times and found that I enjoyed it much more on this trip than before. The lines are nowhere as long as they were last April, though FastPasses were still going pretty quickly.

Turtle Talk with Crush was also excellent, even for a non-Japanese speaker. The notion of building an observation windown into the rear part of the SS Columbia's hull works well and is fully documented in the pre-show area, with many photographs of the ship's construction. And, of course, the hydrophone and its use are fully explained. The Imagineers did a great job and it's such a shame that this type of attention to detail is entirely neglected by the Walt Disney Company in the United States. I mean, there's just no attempt whatsoever to justify what the hell Turtle Talk with Crush is doing in the Feature Animation building at DCA. It works much better at the Living Seas in Epcot, but the touches from Tokyo Disneyland would make such a difference in "positioning" the attraction.

One of the things that I also noticed is how much better the pirate AA figures are programmed in Tokyo Disneyland than in either US park. Their hand and body gestures are all completely in sync with what they're talking about, and the gestures are more fluid and definitive. The Barbossa figure is a much higher level of AA than the one at Disneyland. This is not surprising since the red-coated Captain of the Wicked Wench was also a more advanced figure than his counterpart at Disneyland. The amount and speed of Barbossa's movement in Tokyo is extremely realistic. Just another example of The Oriental Land Company spending the money needed to raise every detail in every ride that much higher.

Looking forward to my next trip in March, when I get to stay at the Disney Ambassador Hotel.

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

Don't know if anyone's still watching this thread but a new question has popped up but it's still related to the topic.
I bought the TDS Halloween 09 soundtrack via Ark Square. They say it's 4-14 days for USA shipping. I've waited but is starting to get antsy due to no e-mails what so ever on the soundtrack, not even one confirming the order! D:
Is this a bad sign or just me being to impatient?

This is why I go through YesAsia these days. They do a good job of e-mailing you when it ships. And in my experiance, around the time you get impatiant is when it shows up.

My copy just shipped on the 14th and is expected to arrive on the 27th at the latest. Keep in mind that the 14th on that side of the globe happened when it was the 13th for me, so for all I know, I could probably get it on the 26th at the latest.

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

So my copy of Mysterious Masquarade came in the mail today, and already I've noticed that the deep voice you hear announcing who possed the characters was left out after the initial character dialouge. They also kept the important live-actor script in using generic voice actors, which means don't expect to hear the dance instructions on the CD, but it is interesting to hear what music is playing in the background while they are telling the audiance how to dance along.

Another interesting thing I noticed is that the character dialouge surprisingly loud compared to the rest of the soundtrack. Is that the case with the show in person?

Can't tell you, because the show was rained out all but one day I was there. And needless to say, I didn't win the lottery and couldn't get anywhere near the outdoor theater to watch while standing.
