Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

So Resortathome has the Halloween information. Looks like we are getting recycled parades this year. The name of the daytime parade has changed to 'ReVillians'. The nighttime parade remains the same.

My thinking is this - the characters were dressed like royalty last year and the dayttime parade music reflected that, with renaissance style music and themes.

With Mickey and Minnie dressed differently this year, I'm thinking we will have some new music for atleast the dayttime parade.

I'm excited to see the Halloween offerings at TDS, but it seems the only big show will be the Mysterious Masquerade. The other show is just listed as a greeting using live band music.

I get mine sent to me from a home-stay mother in Japan Shortly after the magazine is released each month, she sends a parcel with the Disney Fan magazine and some other things.

as unspectacular as last year's parade soundtracks were, i HATED the travel music for the bonzai villains night show. very sad if they use that one again :P the best part of the day parade's music was the transition into the showstop and that's about it :P (out of showstop too but that's just their annual homage to join the harvest)

The disco showstop for Bonzai Villains was fun. Just too short.

I expect we'll see some more information very soon, seeing as these events are scheduled to start around the 10th of September.

Even though the run time is listed at 5 minutes, I'm intrigued to hear how the fireworks will sound.

I'm disappointed and don't totally understand why full costumes aren't allowed at TDS. I think people would really run with the concept, which would make the overall atmosphere that more satisfying.

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

So we finally are able to see the cd covers. Looks like we're in for trouble at Disneyland this year. I'm sure it will be wonderful, but this cd cover is one of the worst! It doesn't reflect nighttime at all, and is probably the least Halloweeney Halloween cover ever! What are Mickey and Minnie dressed as? Daisy and Donald look like they are dressed like they were for 2006.

DisneySea's however, just looks phenomonal!

We already knew it would be villains again this year though so TDL's cover art isn't that surprising is it? What is surprising to me is that it looks like Mickeys float will be Little Mermaid/ocean based. His hat has coral on it and in the lower right corner is an Ursula pumpkin. Minnie I can't figure out but it doesn't look bad just really similar to the fairies primavera doesn't it? The TDS one does look amazing though!!

Edit: Ok not that similar to the fairies primaververa...Still have no clue though!

Actually, I'm right there with you, Ichigo. My first thought about TDL was "Bright blue shining sky??...for Halloween?!?" My second thought was "Why does Mickey have shells and coral; this is the TDL image, not DisneySea, right?" And my last thought was Spring Carnival. It just doesn't look very "villainous" to me...I actually didn't even notice that those pumpkins were the villains at first. They really seem to be downplaying the darkness at TDL, which is weird for villains. Oh well. I guess they were going for contrast with TDS, and the TDS image more than makes up for it in my mind. I guess, especially with the Stamp Rally, that's where I'll be.^^

Hopefully, though, this means the parade/story has been redesigned and maybe there's a really compelling story involving Ursula with a float with moving tentacles or something...or maybe I'm just ramblin'.^^ Maybe not, though. Hook and the Evil Queen/Old Hag were in the cover art last year, but both Ursula and the Queen of Hearts are new. Queen of Hearts is getting a lot of love if she features a lot in Halloween - Dreams Within, Club Monsters Inc, and now this. You go, Queen!^^

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

The cd covers are great & still very different than the small photos I saw in the Disney Fan Magazine. But, the cd's usually have their own unique cover art anyway.

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

Actually, I kind of like TDL's CD cover. It's not the most "dark" version, but then it's still better than either the 2004 or 2005 covers. Check those out to see what I mean.

2004:

2005:

It does look like they've changed up the parade theme, or at least the order for TDL though. Mickey does look to be "under the sea" with his shells & coral. Minnie...I have no idea what she is, but it looks like something abstract. The blue cloudy sky isn't too bad, it does contrast with the orange very nicely. The villain theme is definitely downlplayed though.

The TDS cover is great, everything just works so well. Tower of Terror in the background, the big mask in the corner, it's really nice.

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

They always seem to come up with completely new and different things each year- Based on the way Mickey is dressed on both cd covers- I'm also surprised by the artwork in the magazine- which is completely different- Mickey is dressed as Peter Pan there, unless that may be some artwork for the Disney Store promotion, since they have their own line of product and merchandise which is very different than the parks.

Wow ... that Tokyo Disneyland Halloween CD art is just frakkin' bizarre. I recognize Donald's costume from some earlier event. Anyone remember it?

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

Donald's costume actually looks like the same one from last year. Check out the CD cover for 2008...

And here's the one for this year. The costume is very similar anyway.

Re: An Official Halloween 2009 Thread

So right now unconfirmed but it looks like the TDS Halloween show will have a lottery...I guess we will find out for sure soon when the website updates or DisneyFan comes out. Just wanted to give a heads up just in case it's true. The person that told me has always known whats going on so I believe them and have already made a plan B just in case.
