Move Pirates to TDS, it fits there thematically. Build a Frog Princess ride where Pirates currently is at TDL, it fits thematically as well. This could be accomodated on the unused plot next to the Indy ride.

Then, expand Frontierland into the "tropical" half of Adventureland, and build Western River Expedition where Jungle Cruise currently is. There are some strong similarities between WRE and POTC, so moving Pirates to TDS would also be good in not having two excellent but similar attractions in one park. These changes would also eliminate the current hodge-podge theming of Adventureland give this area of TDS more coherence.

* * *

Another idea I like is an Atlantis area. Something else that is thematically appropriate.
I imagine you getting some negative feedback, but I really like the idea of PotC in TDS; always have. Only, I don't think it really works in any of the existing Ports, so it would have to be all new. Though it seems unpopular to do pirates these days, I would enjoy Port Royal if the theming was pirates generally, and not all tied to the film series and Jack Sparrow. That said, a Port of Call in TDS is one way to immortalize the character, an issue Ichigopara and I were talking about a while back.

Once you get over the "PotC is a DisneyLAND original," the theming argument really is quite strong. And since it's always been in the most incohesive part of TDL, the first argument is a weak one to me. I also think Frog Princess in the current "French Quarter" in TDL would be brilliant! I don't know about maps and park layout, but it would be great there, and I love that area of the park.

Jungle Cruise has lots of fans at TDL, though. I don't think anyone would like it gone. I suppose it could really work in Lost River Delta over in TDS, though. Actually, I'd really, really like that! Some of those animatronics are rather dated. I'd almost rather leave PotC in TDL, build a Frog Princess Bayou boat ride where Jungle Cruise is, and see a brand-new Jungle Cruise in the empty lot around Raging Spirits. You're right that tightening up the theming in Adventureland is a goal worth having. But then doesn't Adventureland just become a French Quarter with western and Polynesian elements? Maybe it could be "American Adventureland" or something. Hawaii counts as America, right?^^ Hm...I think it's maybe destined to stay a mess for a while...

I like Atlantis, too, and the theming is without question. Although the Arctic, if done well, fills me with the greatest sense of wonder. If it was based more on reality than fantasy, I'd be fascinated by that.

I also like the idea of having a fully designed Pirates area...but I'd like to see Tortuga.

As for the one who said that Chester and Hester's DinoRama has an intricate back story, does it matter? I can give a pet rock an intricate back story, and it will still be a pet rock.

The fact is that 99% of guests will never know the back story anyway.

Especially for DisneySea, a book like this is what I'd like to see most. A book in English that is written like a catalog from the different ports, highlighting the design and backstory of every location and attraction. I suppose, actually, that it might even be a multi-volume work. I don't mean like a tourist guide, but a record of the worlds from the worlds themselves. I've actually looked, but never found anything like this. Has anyone else?

And to keep on topic, I'd actually prefer PotC's "Singapore," but I imagine if a pirate port was opened at DisneySea that it would probably be Port Royal.

DuffyDad, there are books, in fact, VOLUMES in English of what you've described. However, they aren't for sale to the public.

^ Crazy far fetched ideas! That would all be cool but I think it would cost to much to move everything around lol.

I like the idea of the Artic Ocean, the OLC could do a lot with that, or the Great barrier reef idea. They would both be really cool.

What I'd like to see added are a port with two big E-tickets that I've heard nothing about in advance.

Fat chance of that with MiceChatters - it's like some people have a secret door into the minds of Disney planners a la Being John Malkovich! But, I agree. That would be incredibly cool. And I wish there was just one bonafide coaster!!!

Hey, with the news of Disney buying Marvel, maybe they will add a Marvel themed port...then it will really look like Islands of Adventure (which took much inspiration from Tokyo DisneySea to begin with). Hey, who doesn't want Spiderman & Mickey to hang out?

I really hope you're joking. This news didn't make me happy at all. I see no way for Marvel and Disney characters/worlds to coexist unless the idea of the parks as actual places just disappears completely. I have never even been tempted to go to Universal. Not because it's a bad park; just because it's all over the map. I will definitely visit World of Harry Potter in the Islands of Adventure at some point in my life, but since it seems to be kinda separate, I plan to only go there. Can you just imagine - Spidey swinging around with the kites in Mythica?!

Re: So what Sea would you like to see added to TDS?

I would like an Atlantis area- since that was a very under utilized Disney movie anyway. There really is so much they can do with it & I would love to see Atlantis rising out of the Disney Sea waters somewhere.

I wouldn't mind an area dedicated to pirates either- it doesn't have to be recycled from Disneyworld or Disneyland- it could be something completely wild and new.

Now Marvel-on the other hand, I can't see them and Disney co-existing either in the same theme park. I haven't researched further, but has any announcement been made in reference to Universals Islands of Adventure losing the Marvel themed area? I can see Disney buying the rights as a stab in the back to Universal since Harry Potter will give them some serious competition, while taking the Marvel Universe from them will screw up an entire section of their park.

A lot depends on the original contract between Marvel and Universal on how long they have the rights to the characters in Islands of Adventure. Personally, I was never that crazy about the Marvel universe in Universal Orlando, or even Toon Lagoon for that matter. I love the Seuss Landing, Jurassic Park and The Lost Continent. I'm going to miss the Lost Continent, but absolutely love the idea of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

I do remember several months ago about Stan Lee negotiating with Disney about Marvel- but no official announcement was ever made- So the acquisition doesn't really surprise me that much- but I did forget about it till now.

But they do need to keep them out of Disney Sea- Sinbad still surprises me, but I really like that ride.

I've mentioned it before, but they really do need to do something in that dead area between the Indiana Jones ride and Storm Rider and a whole new land would be great.

OLC- think Atlantis

Guys and gals, for information about the deal Marvel has with other entertainment groups, check out the LA Times site: A web of Marvel deals - latimes.com

Back to topic: Guest response for previews of "Turtle Talk" has been "mam-ma" (so-so) according to some attraction CM's that I have spoken to.

Re: So what Sea would you like to see added to TDS?

Now that Marvel will be owned by Disney, maybe there'll be a Namor walkaround character there? He'll be there in his green speedo in front of Med. Harbor with a golden trident, smiling for the guests.

Hehe.
