Re: Epiphany!

I get a rush when entering the Tokyo Disney Resort that I don't get except at Disneyland in California. I love the original park--WALT'S park--and I love the Grand Californian.

While DCA will never be brought up to DisneySea's level, I still enjoy the Anaheim park.

But think how much I love the Tokyo Resort to haul my middle-aged butt over there at least once a year!

I have a subscription to Disney Fan magazine.

I read Deep Disney every day.

I'm nuts. But I'm among like-minded nuts.

And even though I'm going out to Disneyland on Monday for the Haunted Mansion 40th Anniversary Event, and staying for the first day of the D23 Expo, I'm STILL more excited about going to Tokyo at the end of the month!

LUCKY!!! I think part of the reason I love "our" ToT so much is that it reminds me, conceptually, of the HM on a larger scale. I'm very disappointed that I missed the queue tour when it was down for refurb.

Don't worry DuffyDad. There's another rehab for ToT next spring.

I totally agree with this as well.. as I share the same feelings. HKDL, WDW, and DLRP? I don't feel the same level of expectation and glee upon arrival as I do at TDR and DLR.
However, you can keep Deep Disney. Those guys need to get a life!

Re: Epiphany!

Fukai, even though I'll miss you in Tokyo this year- I'll be going to the 40th Mansion event & will catch the first 3 days of the Expo next week- I'm leaving tomorrow morning to check out Las Vegas first, then head over to Anaheim on Tuesday to early register for the event- Hopefully the lines won't be too bad to register- Yeah right! I lucked out and am a Grim Grinning Ghost package-so I'll be staying at the Grand Californian for the week with both the package and DVC.

Yes there is a special feel of absolute magic and glee when you enter Tokyo Disney- I feel it more at Disney Sea, than Tokyo Disneyland at times too. I have a similar feeling at Disneyland, but WDW has simply become a resort that I've probably been to too many times and have less to look forward to each time. I'm getting more excited about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in IOA, than anything WDW is going to offer in Florida next year. I am a Vacation club member, so that is the main reason I visit WDW so often- but it's sad that I now feel like I'm going there just as another trip & an excuse to get away from work for a few days. But I count the minutes till I can get back to Tokyo!

Off Topic

jedimaster7313, Monday should be a quite day at DLR if your in the parks. Labor Day is usually a quite day out of the long weekend. Not sure which days you are doing what or how well you know the parks. The other advice I have, do DL in the morning and DCA in the afternoon/evening. It gets very hot in DCA, Hollywood Backlot has quite a few things to do inside building so its cooler. Sorry if you know all this, just wanted to pass it along in case you didn't. I hope you have a great trip.

Re: Epiphany!

Coming from Australia, a visit to Disneyland was never really an option for my family, and even though Walt Disney had been gone for many years, i was sure that he was MY uncle. my adventures of Disneyland were through television & books.

finally i got to go one year & i was hooked. then when i got married i went for my honeymoon & my hubby became hooked too. from then on we went at least every 12 months, becoming annual passholders & as we don't have halloween in Oz, we always went at that time of year. then deals on flights via japan happened - and we became addicted to TDL & TDS.

we have visted all the parks around the world too (but for HKDL - still needs to "grow" into its self) but Disneyland & TDR are by far our favs. disneyland is Walt's original dream & TDR is an amazing homage to Walt's dream.

but my secret shame? i cry EVERYTIME i watch the fireworks at Disneyland, and when ever i see or hear Uncle Walt. Disneyland's 50th was a real tear jerk for me, i cried everywhere in the park on those visits!

long live the Disney park geek.
