Typhoon #18

Today we had a typhoon at the resort but it not raining so we braved the wind and headed to the parks to check it out! For more pictures from other people check out Deep Disney as well because there were some things like a (big!) downed tree and the Aquatopia vehicles tied down that I didn't catch.

Mysteriously although many train lines were stopped due to the wind the Resort Line was running! As we made our way to the Resort Line there were many salary men just lying around waiting for the trains to start running.

Very few people!

The wind was blowing around all this sea salt and the monorail windows were covered in it. By the time we left TDS we were covered in it too! Ok the the ride on the monorail was scary! It was really unstable from the wind but we made it to TDS ok!!

Aquashpere!!

Re: Typhoon #18

Before we got there one of these trees had fallen over! You can see pictures of this on Deep Disney.

Many shop doors were closed due to the wind.

It was so weird to have such clear skies during a typhoon!

Tied down to protect from the wind.

Re: Typhoon #18

This doesn't show it well but it was mad windy. Guests were not allowed on top of the S.S. Columbia and for good reason. The viewing platform next to the ship is not raised as high and the wind knocked me down!

A seagull!

At this point we had to head back to the station to check if the trains were running yet so my husband could get to work so that's it for the TDS pictures! Alas they were not so there was a very big line to ride the bus to Urayasu station!

This line is to get to the bus located downstairs!!

Re: Typhoon #18

It was so weird walking to TDL and seeing so few people in the middle of the day.

The bicycles

Tied down

It says 40 but it was actually 20 minutes and later 15 minute wait! We rode it 3 times!

Ceiling fans from Pooh which was 10-15 minute wait.

When we got out of Pooh we saw some people had starting sitting for the parade which was on the way so we took a seat and it arrived a few minutes later. The was no show stops and some performers were missing but it is nice that they did the parade!

The mermaids on Mickey's float were missing!

Pluto was also missing

Wow, what a unique report! The empty pics and ways things are secured are really something!

Re: Typhoon #18

Hey ichigopara thanks for the great thread, it appears the Resort took quite a beating from the storm, after seeing all the coverage shown on Deep Disney. But a few hours later it appears from your own version of events that the weather while still windy had calmed down greatly. And the Resort was quick to recover. Do you know why the cars were parked in the American Waterfront, because its not made clear in your post.

I think typhoon's while mostly not strong enough to close the parks are still something everyone should consider when booking trips to the Resort at this time of the year. As not only will it effect park operations but it will also cause trains to stop.

Re: Typhoon #18

Thanks for the photos- I'm surprised the parks were open at all, being that the regular train lines felt they couldn't run during the typhoon.

It was neat too that they ran the parade even if it was missing some performers.

Re: Typhoon #18

Wow, even though things seem to have been cleaned up, like fallen trees & stuff, it still looks pretty intense with everything tied down and obviously very windy.

Re: Typhoon #18

Thanks for the report. I hope the damage in and around the parks and tokyo aren't that bad. And no one got hurt. Looks like TDR, is pretty set up for this type of thing, with all the tying things down.
