Cost of a Taxi from Ikebukuro to the Tokyo Disney Resort

Due to the sudden downtime just announced for Monster's Inc., I'm going to have to get from the Sunshine City Prince Hotel in Ikebukuro to the Tokyo Disney Resort EARLY on Monday morning. Will have big suitcases, so the train isn't really an option.

Does anyone know how much a taxi will cost for that trip at, say, 6 am?

Using Google Maps for directions from Ikebukuro to Maihama by car, it comes out to about 27km.

Going to the Nihon Kotsu Taxi fare calculator, 27km will run you about 8540 yen to 10121 yen.

Why don't you have the hotel ship your heavy suitcases to your next hotel at TDR and then take the early train? That will probably come out much less expensive!

Roger55--that was some excellent sleuthing! Thanks.

I don't care for the idea of having my suitcases sent by truck--too great an opportunity for them to get lost (even in Japan).

When are you coming? Ikebukuro is in bfe and will cost a fortune! I agree with Mikeland that sending your bags to the hotel is the best option.

We have used it a few times to send our luggage back to our apartment after a trip and love it! So much easier than lugging your luggage around and it is very cheap to do too!

It seems like a great idea, having your luggage ship ahead. We didn't use that when we were there, but I always liked the idea of not having to deal with your luggage.

ichigopara--I almost had drinks with your husband and Joe last October, but couldn't make the get together because it was my last night in Japan.

I'll be at the Sunshine Prince Hotel from February 19 through the night of the 21st. On the morning of the 22, I need to get to the resort by 7 am, drop my bags at the Ambassador, and get on line at Tokyo Disneyland by 7:30 for the 8 am opening. I figure I'll have to leave the hotel in Ikebukuro at 6 am.

If I had known this rehab was coming, I would have simply booked my hotel room at the Ambassador one night earlier, but can't do that now, and the Hilton is asking minimum $450 for the Sunday night. A cab on Monday morning will cost, at most, half that.

I've been on Monster's Inc a bunch of times, but it wasn't open the last time my friend, traveling with me, was there, and it would a real shame if he didn't see it. I gather they expect Monday to be a very busy day if they're opening at 8am.

Can you explain how shipping the luggage works? I don't quite understand.

Hi I talked to my husband and he says it depends on the time of day you get there so it might be delivered the next day. Why don't I just get you the FP for monsters inc? Do you need more than one? I can get you at the most 2 FP's. Maybe you guys will be able to do your guys night out this time!

From what I understand, your hotel concierge will be able to help you with this. They use a company to ship your luggage to your next destination within Japan. It takes about 24-24 hours for your luggage to arrive. I plan to use this in April.
