Tokyo Disney Resort - Official Disney Fans Meet in 2012

Hi Guys. I'm posting this here and on other message boards, to see who would be interested in a meet for Disney fans in 2012.

I know many of you are experienced in Tokyo and some even live nearby, so the idea of a meet isn't that big of a deal, but I'm trying to gather people who may not have seriously considered it in the past.

I think true fans of Disney should at least once in their lifetime see TDR for themselves and I wanted to create an opportunity for a group to go together

I have already asked for some advice from a few of you, and thank you for your help.

So I am proposing setting up a big meet of Disney fans from here and other places to meet in 2012. This will hopefully give plenty of time for people to save up and make plans to go.

I've given much thought to the time of year where it will be mild temperatures and not with the massive crowds that TDR gets. It appears that Early to Mid April would be the best time to go in the spring, but I am open to other suggestions, since it's so early in the process.

I'd also love feedback from those who have already visited in helping this meet get more organized.

So, for now, if you're interested, please vote in the poll and we can go from there. Once I get enough of interest, we can start to work on more specifics.

I would totally do it. But like most everybody else, money is tight so traveling to Tokyo isn't exactly in my budget XD!!!

Over on OrlandoUnited, "Disneyhead" has also mentioned setting up a pre-TDL meet at DLR for those in the U.S. who would be flying past California anyway:

I am defnitely interested , I think we should make a Micechat event similar to how they do Micechat meets in DL anaheim and orlando where they have set events, I also feel that it should be offered in an off month like february of 2012 so costs would be down and they offer early entry. winter months generally you can still experience everything tokyo TDL and TDS has to offer. Tokyo usually posts the rehab and hours schedule several months in advance..

February is ok, but I wanted to choose a time of year where weather (and crowds) would hopefully not be a big factor...after researching, April seemed to be the best time and a lot of people are on-board with that plan now I think.

Alot of people are on board? February is great weather generally doesnt snow , hours are stable, they have early entry to usually TDL its much cheaper so more people would be able to go. April is defnitely more crowded. I would suggest that you just select one website to go with to help you plan this. or contact all the heads of each of the disney sites to get people on board so it could be a mega meet. .. Each site tends to do indvidual meets at DL and disneyworld . Trying to coordinate between all the sites might be difficult so selecting one like micage/chat might be the way to go.

Yes, a lot of people are on board so far. Anyway, I'll keep your suggestion about February in mind. Note: when I visited last year it was in February and it was cool one day and very cold the next day.

It sounds like a good idea, I have spoken about doing one in the past to a lite response. I'm not against this idea but could I recommend October instead. In my view depending on how many people you can sign up for this meet, it may be there only trip to Japan. One of the best times to visit Japan is when the Autumn leafs come out, also if people will be visiting TDR for the first time, these people need to take in a Tokyo Disney special event, and Halloween is the best.

While I'm open to the idea, 2012 may not be the best year for me to visit. I like to plan Disney trips around big new openings and events, and TDS doesn't appear to have anything special opening except Toy Story Mania which isn't exactly a new concept. A lot of other cool new openings will be taking place, so I may give this one a miss !

I'll be there in March and October. Too bad!

You've already organised your trips for 2012

I agree that October is a great month for a first visit to TDR. Thats when I was first there. I timed it right with out knowing it and saw the last day of Halloween, which was in 2008 so TDS didn't have a halloween event, so I would suggest making sure you were able to do both parks for this event. Anyhow, with my timing, I was able to see Halloween and Christmas.

What I did was see Halloween, then go see the city of Tokyo for a few days and then headed back to TDR for my last few days in Japan and got to see Christmas in the parks. Its really a treat if you can time it and stay long enough to see both holidays. The only down side, is you spend a lot of money. Two holidays equal twice as much merchandise. I almost ran out of luggage room. lol

Yes being there on Halloween was busy, but for me it was no big deal, did the FP thing, waited in line. It was so cool just to see how dressed up guest got, that I don't feel I missed out on a thing. I did have two other days in TDL during christmas which helped. But still well worth it.

Hotel rooms were pricey that time of year, but we booked only two months before leaving. It was more of a last min trip, that I was happy to take. And we were there over a Monday holiday. So what worked for us and the holidays worked well that year too(knowing Halloween switches days every year) Is we checked out of TDR on Nov 1, which was a Friday, went into the city of Tokyo, found a great little place with good prices($120-140 a night, Im sure there are cheaper) spent Friday, Saturday and I think Sunday night there. Then headed back to TDR for the rest of the week. By being gone over the weekend and Mondays holiday, we saved a lot of money.

I would also add, watch out when the Duffy items are being released when planning your dates. My guess is the rides line maybe shorter on the days new Duffy items are released, which could work for you. But those guest who want Duffy items, they could spend all day in line and not see much of the park. I know you can't make everyone in a big group happy, but this may help or not help you to plan days at TDS when Duffy has new things out. Short lines is always nice when waiting for rides. There are others on here that can say better then me if the ride lines will be shorter on those days.
