    Hello 1965!

I think TDLFAN can agree on the fact that what DisneySEA already has is better than what has been displayed for the mermaids new ride in DCA.
I agree that if AUA ever comes to TDS it should NOT be an exact clone of what's being made in DCA and MK, the beginning and ending sequence would definitely have to be reworked to dive back INTO the water, not out of it. However, that might not have to be done unless it's built in Mermaid Lagoon. What if the exterior was themed to a giant aquarium next to the ocean, and the ride was instead placed in American waterfront instead? Next to the Columbia, or near the new TSMM area perhaps? Just a thought...

Yes I've seen that video before. They are basically static figures and the only one that really moves is "twisty turtle" but he is still somewhat static. The Clamobiles are basically a play on Atommobiles from ATIS and the same design as the ones at The Seas with Nemo and Friends at EPCOT. And Skuttle being the Paul Frees of this omnimover ride doesn't spark to me. I hope at least Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian, Erik, or Triton have at least moving mouthes and fluid movements like on Pirates or even better Sinbad but that probably won't happen and Disney will go the cheap way with AAs like they did with DCA's Monster's Inc. when they could have made them like Ride and Go Seek's. I'm guessing AUA will at least be a C or D-Ticket and not the E-Ticket Disney is telling us this will be.

That's what I've been dreading about the ride this entire time!

I think there is a reason the video only released the lamest AAs in the whole ride. They want us to be WOWed by Ariel and her animatronic hair. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be an E-ticket darkride.

However, I do believe in all honesty that if AUA was brought to TDS, the animatronics in the Under the Sea scene would probably have more advanced and intricate animatronics than will be in the first incarnations of this attraction.

^ You keep thinking that. After I saw the so called "Audio Animatronics" on Monsters Inc. at Disney California Adventure I don't have much hope the ones in AUA will be any better.

I see one major flaw in this plan — Sindbad needs that show building! Go near it and the monkeys will throw bananas, the Rukh birds will poop on your shoulders, Chandu will jump on your head and the gentle giant will eat you right up. The Compass of the Heart does not point in this direction.

Re: Ariel's Undersea Adventure in TDS?

I think most of you all are familiar with the concept video for the Little Mermaid ride that was released by WDI a few years ago with the the DVD of the film. That version was a somewhat smaller ride than the DCA version will be, but used suspended ride vehicles (instead of omnimovers) like the Peter Pan ride, to simulate the sensation of floating under water. Personally I would love to see that variant of the ride built for DisneySea. The major change would have to be the animatronics, which in the video version were mostly cut-outs or having limited mobility. I think the footprint of the ride could be accomodated without much difficulty, by removing the theater and using some of the open space between the current Mermaid area and the Port Discovery area (look at Bing Maps or some other satellite image to see what I'm talking about). Timmy does make a good point in pointing out that the ride begins above water, while the current Mermaid area at TDS is themed to be below the water. However, there is no reason why a queue could not accomodate this transition. At Epcot, for the Nemo ride, the queue begins above water, then takes visitors below it. A more compact version of the same idea, but reversed, could do quite nicely TDS.

I have said before...and agree with what Ichigopara said earlier in this thread...that Mystic Manor and Little Mermaid rides would be great for TDS.

For some reason you are thinking Paul Pressler is still in charge???

The Monsters Inc. ride was built for 30 million and that's one reason you only got Roz as an AA. Mermaid is costing between 110-120 million. I wouldn't be worried about it having lame AA's. The ones in the showroom are all the background ones and there is no need to spend that much money on them when WDI can priorities that on other things like the Ariel and Sebastian AA's. Please don't be so negative. I too hated the late 90's to early 2000's, but thankfully they're gone. I also have faith that Lasseter will make sure that they don't skimp on this attraction.

As for Mystic Manor, they ain't going to put another Haunted Mansion into the same resort. I don't care how much it's different, it won't happen. Could you see them putting another Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Tokyo Disneyland just because it has a different, and not as good as TDS's story? No, I can't.

I'd rather see an expansion of the Society of Explorers & Adventurers concept, with one S.E.A. member having representation in each park. And great if the next one is a woman!^^

Just to keep on topic, too, I'd just like to say that while I'd miss the current Ariel show if it was gone, it's not a dealbreaker. I do like, though, that DisneySEA has such a high percentage of really spectacular live performances - I think it's part of the mood of that park. And Ariel, as princess of the sea, is certainly a big part of that...even if her story is completely changed!

He better, Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage only has 2 real AAs and the rest is screens and static figures. I was not impressed by that. The only real AA in Monsters Inc. is Roz and she isn't the most advanced I've seen but is able to interact with guests. I was a little dissapointed that TSMM didn't have any real AAs of the characters. At least Lincoln is a very advanced audio animatronic that I am impressed by. I'm just wondering if they are going to direct most of that money to the audio animatronics and not other stuff. If what is shown in that video is just a model and not what is actually appearing on the ride I'll hold my breath to see what these AAs really look like. May 2011 is just a few months away...

I agree! Why all the Sindbad hate? I loved that ride and while I am sure I am in the minority it is my favorite attraction in TDS.

AUA coming to TDS would be kewl; however, I really think it needs more original rides and not more clones... there are too many clones in what feels like a very unique park already... but that is just me... now if they plused it (like Poohs Honey Hunt) that would be a completely different matter.
    Have a magical day!

    BOOO!

...now compare it to this old DisneySEA rides AAs:

    Part 1 YouTube -

    Part 2 YouTube -
It's funny how your bashing a ride you haven't ridden based on 5 seconds of video footage of unfinished audio animatronics (which are background characters FYI) versus a 14 minute long video of a ride thats been open for almost 10 years. Biased much? From my understanding, AUA has audio animatronic figures that surpass Sinbad's motion-wise and in terms of technical wizardry. So I think you should put your judgement on rides that haven't opened yet on hold, until you actually ride them.

Re: Ariel's Undersea Adventure in TDS?

Those 5 minutes showed off some pretty BAD work for me. I am sure there will be better things on the 3 minute ride than what has been shown, but for now I have low expectations.
