Only the omnimover is the only thing similar in both attractions. The rest is different. I'm not surprised they are using the omnimover once again. It is a very reliable system meant for high guest compacity that doesn't stop unless the ride brakes down. So how you mean it is that the Buzz Lightyear rides, Horizons, World of Motion, Adventure Thru Inner Space, People Mover/TTA, Journey Into Imagination, Spaceship Earth, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, and The Living Seas are/were basically the Haunted Mansion type ride with a different theme.

You ain't seen nothing yet! The same team that brought Sindbad to TDS is bringing Mermaid to DCA and WDW. They know how to best utilize the staging of both complex and simpler AA figures (as in all classic Disney attractions) to create the best overall show.

Whatever the virtues of Sinbad, it has sadly failed in the popularity deparment...whereas a Mermaid ride is all but certain to be a huge hit.

Re: Ariel's Undersea Adventure in TDS?

Western folks love the Sindbad ride, but the Japanese couldn't care less. On the most busy day I've been at DisneySea, Sindbad has never had a wait time of more than 15 minutes. Yes, it's a "people-eater" like Pirates of the Caribbean, and has a very high hourly capacity, but no exec from OLC wants to see a very expensive ride have only a 15 minute wait time when the E-Tickets in the park all have 120 to 180 minute wait times.

If there was any way they could use the existing Sindbad building for the Little Mermaid ride, I think they would. But they can't--it's WAY WAY too far away, in another port. And with the construction of Jasmine's Flying Carpets in front of it, you can be certain that whatever ends up inside the Sindbad building 20 years from now, it will be themed to Arabian Coast. However the show building does back up to the rearmost portion of the parking lot that I believe will be used for the expansion of both parks in the future. Conceivably they could turn the front of Sindbad into a wall. Then the portion behind the wall, where the show building is, could be used for a new ride themed to the new section of park, perhaps Glacier Bay.
