Last year we decided that 2011 would be the year we would go back to Japan, after being there before in 2004 and 2009. So we made travel arrangments for a 3 weeks trip, 1 week Tokyo, 1 week Kyoto and a grand finale in Tokyo Disneyland for 4 days.
When the big disaster came in march, it gave a lot of questions, would we have to cancel our trip??.... Since we would only leave on april 7th we decided that we would make the final decisission only in the first week of april.
So when that time did come, we decided we could go. At that time Tokyo Disneyland was still closed, but we did have good hope it would reopen before your stay there in the last week of our trip.
So we were really glad that it was announced that Tokyo Disneyland itself would reopen. Tokyo Disney Sea would only reopen at the day we did fly back to the Netherlands....
Off course it was a shame to miss out on Disney Sea, but it felt special that the Disney magic could again be enjoyed in Japan after all the dreadful things that happened there. We had the feeling that the Japanese people also got a lot of comfort from being away from every days sorrow.
So in the end we did have 3 full days in Tokyo Disneyland, which gave use the chance of enjoying all the park had to offer. We enjoyed the Canoes, Tom Sawyer Island and the fantastic Easter Parade as often as possible. When we felt a bit tired that parade gave us so much energy to enjoy the park till closing time.
I am still working on translating my complete trip report from Dutch in English, but i did post already the photo's online.
