I've never been around when they are offering the tours either. Hope you are having a great trip Mosaic-but I know you probably are having the time of your life.

I've been on Journey for several years now, so I'm sure I've seen you Prometheus at one time or another- just don't know you from your name on micechat.

Well we are back from a wonderful trip to Japan. It is really as exciting as everyone says and the experience was one that I will never forget. I can definitely see myself going back again at some point since there is so much more to see and since it is such a fun and exciting place. So let the "Fantastic Story" begin.

jet lag did not hit hit us too bad and I think a lot of that had to do with breaking up the trip with a layover in LA. We flew on Sunday May 6 and landed in LAX just after noon. After a required trip to In 'n Out Burger we checked into our local hotel and spent the afternoon in Hollywood and seeing Cirque du Soleil's IRIS. It is definitely a wonderful show for any Cirque or old-time film fan. Monday morning before we left we ventured to Manhattan Beach to see the coast and some of the gorgeous area there.

This is what you see in the morning when your hotel is near Mattel's world HQ.

We had our layover in LA so we could purposely fly Singapore Air on the Airbus A380. It was a real treat to fly an Asian carrier for my first visit to Japan. The service and food on Singapore Air was just great and we had our own 2-seater row in the upper deck so it made for easy getting up when we needed without bothering other passengers etc. Flight embarkation was a breeze. Fast and efficient too.

After the 11 and half hour flight we landed in Narita. I still could not believe we were in Japan. The efficiency and timeliness of how Japan works started right away. After landing it took about 60 minutes to get off the plane, through immigration, get our bags, through customs, purchase Limo Bus tickets and on the bus. I could not believe it went so smoothly. We were able to get an earlier bus than planned and soon we were off to Shinjuku and our our hotel, the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku.

So you didn't buy your tickets on the limo bus until you got there? Would you do that again or purchase in advance?

It was super easy to buy the tickets at the airport. The counter is clearly marked and the attendants were very helpful and spoke English. I would just buy at the counter again.

Re: Pinch me! I actually tgoing to Japan & Tokyo Disney. Carmen's Trip Report - May 2

Though we started our trip by touring Tokyo, Hakone and Kamakura I'd figure I would post some of my TDR photos first.

I loved TDR. Seeing TDS was a high priority but due to the refurb schedule we visited TDL first to be able to ride the attractions in Westernland that were going into rehab the day after we got there. I was immediately amazed by the cleanliness and size of the resort. I love the open spaces that accommodate the crowds and keep the flow of people (lots of people) manageable. And like most notice, the little details in everything are great. I could have probably taken twice as many photos as I did. Now lets see some of them.

Re: Pinch me! I actually tgoing to Japan & Tokyo Disney. Carmen's Trip Report - May 2

We spent 4 total days at TDR. With park hopping and having to pick days we started off at TDL since I knew some of Westernland's attractions were going into rehab the second day we would be there. Here is the second part of my TDL photos. Some may appear to hop back and forth because I compiled all of TDL's pics in one place.

Country Bear Vacation Jamboree. I am used to small crowds for this but never with only 9 people. And let me tell you it was a blast. We loved hearing the songs in a mix of English and Japanese. It was a total hoot.

I really loved TDL's BTMRR. I thought it was a great ride and I had probably one of my best rides ever on BTMRR with a car of 10-11 year old boys behind me yelling "Cowboy" and "Yeehaw" the entire ride. It was great run to join in with them.

Thank goodness for Fastpasses. I tried for two days to ride and it was either a longer line (60+ minutes) or down and not operating. Day four of our visit to TDR was finally the day. And we got on twice.

Other must rides on Day 1 due to the ride rehab schedule were the Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island Rafts. I was amazed how the next day there was a fence, with some unfinished spots thanks to Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher that lined the entrance to the TSI River Boats. It was amazing how fast they placed it.

A true highlight of the trip. Believe all you read. It is an awesome ride. We got on it 3 times over our visit, all with Fastpasses. The line does get shorter at times later in the day but the Fastpasses made it all that much easier.

Here is one of my overall favorite photos from the trip. While on the Omnibus circling the hub this group of teenagers starting giving me the peace sign when they saw my camera. I proceeded to say "Shashing" and next thing thing you know they were smiling for a great photo. In my mind it really captures the spirit and fun that I experienced at TDL. I just think its great.

Tokyo Disney Sea is up next.
