Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
You can never please everyone. Haven't you stopped at Guest Relations lately?

I'm really happy that the DisneySEA Halloween show will be at the harbor and not in American Waterfront Park. I never won the lottery to get in for one of those.
Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
Do this search on Google and see how it isn't unprecedented that Disney has one of their characters as the devil.

Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
They had announced Halloween Street coming back a long while back in one of those yearly outlines they released but I'm glad they are changing it up this year. I guess it would be too much doing two completely new events at both parks and the anniversary is next year so the timing works out better. Can't wait to see Mickey's new costume!
The TDS harbor show was also pretty much expected even without an announcement, for a few months now rumors had been going around that because of the newly opened TSM the area would be too crowded. With 2 performances daily it will be a little tough though. I wish they would make 3 performances on busy days. The amount of performers is good so now we just have to wait and see what the show will be like!
Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
I am glad for the amount of performers, but still does not seem to be at the level of Spring Carnivale (my personal favorite).

OK, my link was supposed to show that dressing Disney characters as the devil had already been done. I just searched for Donald because I remembered specifically the cartoon where he was the devil.
Here are links for other Disney characters as the devil. This first one being Mickey himself.
Disney Pin Trading: Halloween 2010 - Mickey Mouse Disney Pin Released
This next link is a Google serach that shows Tinker Bell, Eeyore, Stitch, and Chip dressed as the devil.

I'm sure other searches would result in other characters also dressed as the devil.
I don't think Disney or OLC has any reservations whatsoever depicting its characters as a devil. I don't think that there is any religious implications.
If there are religious concerns about Mickey or any character being depicted in a devil costume, I would think that there would also be concerns about TDR's secular interpretations of Easter and Chirstmas.

true. I guess I'll have to see if i like it or not based on the actual design.

Again it is Donald... but here is Donald as a devil in actual Disney Park character form:

I imagine Devil Mickey would be similar (and probably better knowing Tokyo)
Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
The characters are not supposed to be real devils, but the characters dressed as devils--in a costume, Halloween style. Makes sense.

I just had this image of Mickey busting out into a crazy ritual in the middle of the parade! "Donald fetch the goat's blood, ha ha!"ψ(`∇´)ψ
Like Fukai said it's a costume and will always lean more on the cute side at TDL.
Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
Just like when children and adults alike dress up for Halloween, doesn't mean I am the devil, dracula, or a witch in real life.
Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
I am really fine with it as long as it's tasteful, which I always expect from Disney in a Halloween event.
Re: Tokyo Disney Resort Halloween 2012
I haven't seen any goats sacrified in a blood ritual at a Disneyland park yet! :)
