Yes they really do. I think one of the things that has impressed me the most since our family visited in 2010 was the attention to the little details like that. I think it's wonderful they go out of the way to create a unique experience representative of the event they are performing at the parks. It certainly gives the hotel guests some added enjoyment. I wish the Disney parks in the USA did this during anniversary years. Heck! I wish they still celebrated anniversaries like they used to do every 5 years.

The history of Tokyo Disney Resort began on April 15, 1983 with the opening of Tokyo Disneyland Park, followed by the openings of Tokyo DisneySea Park and three Disney Hotels. During this yearlong celebration, Guests will be able to share new discoveries, wonder and excitement with their family and friends, as well as with the Disney characters and the Cast Members.
Kicking off "The Happiness Year" on April 15 will be the new Tokyo Disneyland daytime parade, "Happiness Is Here." The Disney characters show various types of happiness in this colorful, exhilarating parade that is 500 meters long. All the Guests are sure to have smiles on their faces as they watch the spectacular new parade.
And then on May 7 at Tokyo Disneyland, the new attraction Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will debut. With 3D visuals and more than 50 different story combinations, the attraction will offer Guests new experiences and unexpected thrills each time they ride.

i was thinking the exact opposite.

TDL is offering just a new parade. There is no castle show like so many were hoping for.

TDS is offering just the new meet and smile show.

The firework are shared between the two parks and if like in the past will not be much of an experience.

All the rest is decorations, food and merchandise.

I'm a bit disappointed I'm sure what they offer will be great. There is just not much being offered.

Where have you two been? This is pretty much the average offering you get from the Tokyo Disney Resort in regards to Anniversary Events. Except for a Character Greeting show this is exactly the same line up we had for the 25th. Of course when I state the decline in offerings it's usually met with being mocked about the sky is falling or how it's still a better effort to Walt Disney World. I'll be sitting this year out and heading to Hong Kong Disneyland instead. Mystic Manor awaits!

I've been following this as close or closer than most everyone here.

While I do share my disappointment, I don't go as far as to pout, whine or throw a hissy fit. I still go and enjoy what is offered. I also don't discourage others from going. And i certainly don't throw out overreactive, overly dramatic threats about going "somewhere else" as a way of showing my disappointment.

I was thinking of the merchandice. I see your point in the entertainment area maybe lacking in comparison to other TDR events. If you compare it to what they do in the states TDR is still leading and doing a lot more.

Absolutely! If you compare the overal offerings against the US parks there is no comparison.

My disappointment is that there is no castle stage show like there has been in the past. The castle shows at TDL (including the most recent Natsu Matsuri) are amazing and head and shoulders above most offerings you will see at the other Disney Parks. That is why some of us were really hoping for a castle stage show.

Inspite of my disappointement of no castle show, I'll certainly be attending the 30th festivities several times before it is over.

I think there might be some lack of comprehension going on here about the differences between disappointment, criticizing and crying.

I see your point Roger. I see your point and why its disappointing. And its not really fair of me to compare TDR to other Disney Parks. I wonder why TDR isn't having a castle show and other things they have had in past years? Must be a cost cutting thing?

Re: Tokyo Disney Resort 30th Anniversary 'The Happiness Year' 4/15/2013 through 3/20/

Is it impossible that a castle show would simply be unannounced at this point? Anniversary events are usually phased, so maybe it's coming later? Also, perhaps existing entertainment events will be ramped up for the 30th? I'm thinking here about "Mickey's Jolly Snow Time" during 25th Anniversary Christmas — was that announced from the earliest press releases?

"The Happiness Year" has always seemed like a less narrative, story-driven concept than "Dreams Within," which is one of the things I personally like less about it. But I have to admit that the more we find out, the more excited I get. It seems to be highly interactive and focused on guest experience and even guest-based content creation, rather than just presenting something for guests. It also seems to be aiming more at fun and celebration, rather than drama and romance. I :loved: the shows from the 25th, but I wasn't really expecting to see them here, except just a greeting. I've been anticipating bigger versions of seasonal events. "The Happiness Year" really seems to be just about celebrating the joy of the parks, not telling a story or taking guests on a journey like TDS's 5th or TDR's 25th. I guess I've made my peace with that.^^

By the way, disfa10, it says at the end that there have been amendments since the original Japanese press release; I guess the number of performers is one of them.
