Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Parks
Attendance Figures for the First Half of Fiscal Year 2012
URAYASU, CHIBA
—Tokyo Disney Resort® announced today that the total combined attendance at Tokyo Disneyland® Park and Tokyo DisneySea® Park during the first half
of this fiscal year (April 1 to September 30, 2012) amounted to a record high figure of
13,250,000 persons (an increase of 2,511,000 persons or 123.4
%of the attendance figure for the same period last year).
During the first quarter, springtime special events including a new Tokyo DisneySea
special event “Mickey and Duffy’s Spring Voyage” (April 3 through June 30) attracted guests to the Parks. The second quarter saw the grand opening of a new Tokyo DisneySea attraction, Toy Story Mania! (opened July 9),
the debut of a new Tokyo Disneyland
special event, “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri” (July 9 through August 31). Both the attraction and the special event proved to be highly popular and were effective in generating increased attendance.
In summary, the implementation of a major new attraction, Toy Story Mania!, and the new special events mentioned above helped to draw more attendance than was expected over the first half of this fiscal year. Moreover, the low number of rainy days during the summer vacation period was also a factor in making this fiscal year’s first half attendance our highest ever.
