Whatever Joe posts on his site is pretty much the law. He is a personal friend of mine and his info comes from sources *inside* TDR. He knows what he's talking about.

Thanks, DisneySeaFan! Although I do check out Joe's site occasionally, I hadn't seen that article yet! It does sound like something the Japanese would like though (lavish costumes, exotic themes). But w/ OLC's track record (and will), I'm pretty sure they can pull it off.

I think the show looks pretty corny. I like my Disney park shows a bit more Disneyish. But each to their own - it would be cool to watch with all the effects. The storyline sounds like it is trying to hard to be epic though.

Yup, Actually a lot of what Japanese like tends to sound corny when written out.
Also they tend to try to have some "epic" quality as well. ("forces of
nature" "will of the gods collide" etc.) The current (past) show sounded similarly
corny when written out.

But the things that usually pull these off are the OLC's attention to detail and the
willingness to spend (lavish costumes and effects). At least, that's what I
gather from everything I've seen & heard. (Sorry, haven't been to TDS *YET*.)

Interesting since I feel TDR shows are probably the most "disneyish" of any Disney resort, unless you have a different opinion of what Disneyish means... You want to talk corny?? Let's discuss WDW's Cinderellabration, which is a pale imitation of the real deal at TDL in the wintertime.
