    Attraction Refurbs in July?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I ordered plane tickets today....July 15-22 was the only selection I could make, as all other times were full for some reason.

Since I cannot back out of this, I'm a bit worried that there might be a E-ticket attraction closed for refurb during the week I visit. Now I know there is no way to know this ahead of time, but do you guys think Tower of Terror might be closed that week? It's a new attraction, so I have no idea when they might decide to close it. Based on last year's experience, Journey to the Center of the Earth usually closes in late May so that should be open but what about Splash Mountain, Pooh's Hunny Hunt, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? These attractions all closed late June-early July last year, so I'm most worried that their refurb might extend to the week I'm visiting this year. Any help would be most appreciated!

Joe and I just spent a few hours together at TDR last Saturday evening. He has been quite busy with work and unable to follow up on Disney-related stuff. Trust me he is well awared of you guys asking for him since I told him so personally... but unlike me... he does have a life and a very demanding job. He will show up again.. when he is ready.

No!!!! I just checked the official TDR website and Pooh's Hunny Hunt is closed from May 20-July 20. That means it will only open on the last day of my visit. When it says July 20, does it mean it opens that day or the day following?

And take a look at the strange refurb schedule for Pirates...something fishy is going on:

    Pirates of the Caribbean
    January 9, 2007 - March 9, 2007
    May 7, 2007 - July 20, 2007

Nothing fishy is going on at Pirates: the second film has been a huge hit worldwide and they are going to put Jack Sparrow and crew into the Tokyo Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

I lament this because, while I greatly enjoy the new versions of Pirates at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the ride in Tokyo is the only one that has remained untouched--even Mr. Coote is still sitting on top of that stack of barrels at the end. Lots of stuff there you can no longer see anyplace else.
Of course, from the point of view of the Oriental Land Company, Pirates could use a boost. It's one of the rides at the park with the shortest line.

Because Oriental Land keeps the rides in such top condition, it wouldn't have to be closed nearly as long as the US parks were to put the new figures in.

That, at any rate, is my guess.

Why the 2 month closure for Pooh's Hunny Hunt though. It usually closes for about 3 weeks. And if this is true, this means it will open on a SATURDAY. Dear god...I'll be lucky if I can sneak two rides on it. And this was going to be a very special person's first visit too...

I'm really confused. When they say the refurb goes from May 20-July 20, does that mean the attraction opens on July 20 or July 21? This could mean all the difference for me because I cannot reschedule.

The ride is closed on those days mentioned on the closure listings.

    May 20 - July 20 means:

MAY 19 is the final day you can ride it before closure.
JULY 21 is the first day you can ride it after closure.

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to plan around Pooh's Hunny Hunt being closed until the last day of my visit. Maybe I'll try to get as many rides as possible, though with the combined factors of it opening after a 2 month closure and being the most popular attraction, it will not be easy. And it will be opening on a Saturday too....

I sure hope no more E-tickets are closed during my visit, especially not Tower of Terror, JttCotE, and Splash Mountain. Can anyone predict the closures in July, particularily between July 15-22?

The refurb schedule for June just came out. Luckily, JttCotE will be open but Mermaid Lagoon Theatre will only be open on the last day of my visit.

I STILL don't know about Splash Mountain, 20K Leagues, or StormRider! Will they really close nearly all the major E-tickets in one period? I mean...Pooh's Hunny Hunt and Pirates are already closing till July 20. If Splash Mountain closes in that time span too, that's THREE E-tickets closed at once. And during July too....

Mid-May to mid-July is a "slow" period between major holiday times.

But does that really justify closing a whole bunch of E-tickets at once? I would understand if they took it one at a time, but imagine how the people who are visiting during that period must feel?

Anyways, I'm very nervous about the refurb schedule for July. There are already 3 major attractions closed during my stay, and anymore would result in me rescheduling (if that is even possible). I REALLY hope that no other attractions are closed because that would just be so disappointing.

The first day of my visit starts in July 16, which is considered a peak day by their standards. In fact, I'm visiting right during the start of the peak season. Therefore, shouldn't most attractions be open? Is it possible to find out the attraction closures in July before January because this is really making me anxious.

Joe, based on the patterns in the past few years, what attractions do you think will be closed in July? I couldn't dig up the schedules for last July because they have been deleted. It seems to change every year, so I cannot base it off last year accurately. Splash Mountain was closed from June 11-29, StormRider July 1-5, and 20,000 Leagues July 1-14. There is quite a shift from last year's schedule from what I can make of it right now. If the aforementioned attractions are following the current patterns, their closing might just coincide with my trip.
