Re: Time to replace Mickey Mouse Revue with Mickey's PhilharMagic

Does Pinnochio go in TDS because of the Mediterranean Harbour? Kind of a weak link between the gondolas and Gepetto, if you ask me.

He never makes it to where the gondola's are he greets guest from the other side of the harbour.Along with characters like Honest John.

Interesting to note if you go to the Tokyo Disney Sea section of the Tokyo Disney Resort website look at which characters are heavily featured. http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tds/index_e.html

Re: Time to replace Mickey Mouse Revue with Mickey's PhilharMagic

For the record... It was at TDL where Aladdin and Jasmine were introduced to japanese guests... or have we forgotten TDL's special event "Aladdin's Great Caravan"? They also appeared in Fantillusion. I have also seen Al and Jasmine doing meet and greet at TDL before... Whether they are now exclusive to TDS... well I honestly do not know.

Also, I have seen Pinnochio doing meet and greet at TDL in the last year as well.. plus he appears in the daytime parade with Gepetto, and the Cricket appears in Dreamlights. Same characters and others related to Pinnochio also make appearances on the west side of Mediterranean Harbor (in the main plaza or somewhere between Zambini and Portofino restaurants... quite far away from the Gondolas, which IMHO.. have no connection to anything "Disney" except for being an integral part of the venezian theming of Med Harbor.

As for Philharmagic... I think it would be a nice replacement to MMR, even though a step backwards in technical execution. No 3D movie comes close to the sheer magic of a grand AA spectacle... Plus, knowing that Philharmagic's only purpose is to sell the Disney music to the masses, I would not think that having Aladdin and Jasmine's scene would compromise their being prominently featured at TDS' Arabian Coast.

ORDDU: My sisters and I agree with you, Monkey Joe, duckling. Too many other Disney attractions have been replaced with movies--which are cheaper than animatronic figures. There are certainly ways to update the Mickey Mouse Review to make it outshine Mickey's Philharmagic.

ORWEN: Mickey's Philharmagic is too short and has already lost it's appeal for us. But The Mickey Mouse review has so many figures to look at it means we have to keep going back over and over again to be able to enjoy them all.

ORDDU: Over all, we just don't think that replacing animatronic figures with a movie--3-D or otherwise--is usually an improvement. We say be glad you still have the Mickey Mouse Review because it's unique to Tokyo. It would be so much better if they still had it in Florida again.

ORDDU: Oh, indeed! Updating it would be wonderful. It would be nice if they added scenes from some of the newer classics, along with some fresh songs.

How about them reviving that idea that was proposed originally for Euro Disneyland the one with the animatronic show based on the Beauty and the Beast movie.

Only problem could be is the franchise still popular enough to warrant an attraction to itself.Especially in a Country like Japan, seeing that the story is based mainly in France to begin with!

"Beauty and the Beast" is popular in Japan. There are currently two separate musical productions doing long runs. Also, in a recent "Disney Fan Magazine" survey, it was voted the third best Disney animated film.

I could imagine a Kingdom Hearts attraction or show.

I'm a *huge* Philharmagic fan, and have to admit that I had the exact thought of how it would fit perfectly into the Mickey Mouse Revue theater.

This show is indeed an acheivement for it's time, but I have to admit I thought it was a little bizarre for this day and age. The Three Caballeros bit had me giggling. Glad I got to see it, though we will probably skip it the next time we visit the park.
