Fall preview...

The newest issue of Disney Fan Magazine gives us a small preview of some of the new events, menus and merchandise to be found at TDR during Halloween. In addition to an all new halloween parade, decor and castle show at TDL, next door at TDS..we'll be treated to a "Disney a la carte" food fest. The food fest will offer new menus and merchandise at TDS, featuring a french looking waif Minnie Mouse art design, with very girly merchandise.. Think "Minnie Mouse goes Hepburn", with new merchanidse that will appeal to the ladies in particular.
Also, TDS' 6th anniversary will be celebrated with new merchandise featuring Captain Mickey, along with Pinnochio, Jiminy and Figaro the kitty. (..and what did we get for WDW's 35th?, and don't even get me started about the nice merchanidse for HKDL's 2nd anniversary...which will be prominently displayed in my new pictorial from HKDL soon...)

Over at TDL... the Halloween merchandise features Mickey and Minnie in what appear to be Haunted mansion costumes in Halloween color versions, with Cindy's castle in the background, and Chip and Dale, a silly Halloween ghost (like those who appear regularly all over TDL for Halloween)... plus new menus and other special treats. Even the Nightmare Haunted Mansion overlay gets new merchandise this year as well..

So it will be a Fall to look forward to at TDR.

Thanks for the update on whats coming up this fall.I personally can't wait to get out to Japan, the Halloween stuff sounds like a blast this year.I'm also hoping that there may be some 6th Anniversary merchadise left by the time I visit.Looks like I'll have a Haunted Mansion Mickey plush to join last years Pirate Mickey at home.

By the way does anyone have any images that could be scanned of the above from the magazine.

I loved "Disney Fan" magazine. I wish we had something like that for the US parks.

Well... Figaro is a part of the overall design of TDS' 6th anniversary merchandise but not a character standing on it's own. Though, If I look hard, I may be able to find something Figaro-exclusive at TDR. Currently, Cleo the goldfish has an entire line of merchandise...from pens, tees, stationary, cellstraps.. etc.

BTW.. the "Disney a la Carte" site is up, and you can get a little preview of that Skinny Minnie design that is part of the overall motif and theme of this event.

We did at one time it was called the Disney Magazine. To many people where using the net to get information about Disney so they quit making it.

Lucky for us, the internet has not affected the production of the Disney Fan magazine in Japan. But I would believe the reason why the american Disney Magazine was stopped was more monetary than internet related.

The Disney Magazine was nice when it was a part of the Magic Kingdom Club benefits several decades ago.. and it covered the parks and Disney specific stuff, but the later encarnations of the magazine, especially when they went "mass produced" and on sale in every magazine stand, Disney magazine became garbage. With a lot of non-Disney advertizement and many reports that were simply uninteresting, lacked good photography and felt like a 60-page AD, more than an informative magazine. I am glad it has stopped production.

The japanese Disney Fan magazine, while being a promotional tool for TDR, Japan's Disney Stores, extensive reports from all other Disney Resorts, and just about everything "Disney" under the Sun, includes a lot of informational reports, with great park and merchandise photography, and even has it's own mail-order store with exclusive collector merchandise only available in Japan thru this magazine. Heck! It even comes with handy post cards for you to share with friends!! ...and that's just the tip of the iceburg.

It's a nice design. I like it. It's got the potential for some beautiful print work that I bet will be all over TDS during this event, as well as on some choice merch for the ladies.
