1 Day in Tokyo - Disneyland or DisneySea?

Hello! I have 1 day in Tokyo and I'd like to visit the Disneyland resort. I only have 1 day though, which park should I choose?

On one hand, I'd love to go to Disneyland and see all the little differences between Tokyo's and Anaheim's versions. As a SoCal kid with a deep emotional attachment to the original Disneyland, I love comparing/contrasting. Disneyland Paris was exciting for me, whether or not it was "better" or "worse" than the original Disneyland.

On the other hand, DisneySea looks like a completely new/different experience, and I wouldn't mind that either.

    What are your thoughts?

    DisneySea.

TDL is just rides from both DL and MK mixed together with characters that speak Japanese. TDS is 90% stuff you can't find anyplace else.

While Tokyo Disneyland has some great versions of the classic attractions and an amazing unique E-ticket attraction in Pooh's Hunny Hunt (arguably the most technologically advanced attraction ever made), I would highly encourage you to visit Tokyo DisneySea. For one thing, it's by far the best second gate ever created. It is absolutely the most beautiful, detailed, and awe-inspiring Disney park ever created. No other Disney park comes close in the scale of theming and elegance. It's simply the most amazing park ever created by the Imagineers.

Looks like you got him started now.

But I think you will benefit more by visiting Tokyo Disney Seas due to the park being a one off.I know if I only had one day in Tokyo I would want to see something new that I couldn't find else where.Shame you didn't have more time, but you could if you were desperate to visit both buy to seperate admissions.

Tokyo DisneySea. If you really want you can hang around the entrance to Tokyo Disneyland, & see it from the Disney Resort Line monorail.

If you're looking for different go to Tokyo DisneySea. If you feel like you'd have more fun comparing, then go to Tokyo Disneyland.

By the way have you heard of the after 6 Passport?

For roughly another $26 you can visit either TDL or TDS after 6.00 PM.So you could spend time at both parks for a extra fee.You may feel its not worth it but than again when will you next be in Tokyo again. Its a option anyway

    Disney Sea.

    Definitly

DisneySea is the most wonderful amazing park and is so well themed it is a MUST SEE to be believed!
Tokyo Disneyland is good as are all Disneylands (Florida, Paris, Tokyo and little Hong Kong), but the best Disneyland is the origional Disneyland.

Want to see the best Disney park in the world?... choose...DisneySea Tokyo.

If you have been to Disneyland California then go to DisneySea.

BTW, be sure to see the 'Bravismo' water show.

I would also recommend DisneySea since it's so very special and different.

I say.. DO BOTH. Half day at each park. TDL in the monring and TDS in the late afternoon and evening. Or vice-versa.

Thanks for all your opinions! Looks like Sea is the place to go for most enjoyment/amazement. I think I'll definitely make Sea a priority, but if we have a little extra time at the end of the day hop on over to DL just to get a taste.

I hate to do so, but I find myself disagreeing with TDLFAN. Don't split your day. You have only one day available, and there is more than enough to see at either park to fill multiple days. Doing both can lead to either feeling rushed, or feeling it was an incomplete trip, neither of which is desirable.

You've already stated that you enjoy comparing and contrasting. TDL still has "original" style fronts for the Fantasyland dark rides, and the rides themselves feel not-quite-the-same as the ones you are familiar with in Anaheim. I now understand why my friend from Japan was traumatized by Snow White, and refuses to ride even the Anaheim one. Of course, the most egregious contrast is Winnie The Pooh; Hunny Hunt is so far beyond the scope of DLR's tame attempt, it's not even funny. After returning to Anaheim, I noted that the scenes portrayed in that ride were actually the same ones... just executed in a far inferior manner than its predecessor in Tokyo.

Tomorrowland is another good one for comparing/contrasting. I have no doubt the Tokyo Star Tours building will impress you, and the changes to Space Mountain seem to be shaping up nicely. Microadventure is nigh identical, and I only noted differences in the pre-show (that's HISTA btw). It blew my mind that they actually ran out of Fastpasses for the show.

Toontown seemed to me much the same; the biggest difference being TDL's trolley still works! It's more than just a photo op.

In Adventureland, the Tiki Room is a severe throwback to the crooning of the Rat Pack (albeit in Japanese), and as unlike the other Tiki Rooms as anything you can imagine. When I went, the Pirates were of the original version, which I'd not seen in Anaheim for many a year; even before the addition of Sparrow, there was the "PC"ed version of the 90s. However it seems TDL is (soon?) changing PotC to match the Sparrow angle. If you love the classics, Swisskapolka is running strong at the Robinson Treehouse.

And over in Frontierland, the Country Bears (all 3 versions, depending on the time of year) sing through the classic routines you might remember (again, in Japanese, which makes for an interesting experience all its own). Splash and Big Thunder are insanely popular in TDL, and you sound like the kind of person who would catch the little differences and appreciate them.

Now that I've said all of that, I still have to vote for spending your day (your whole day) at Tokyo DisneySea. There is nothing else like it. Besides, even as you are amazed by all the new rides and attractions you can't experience anywhere else (Big Band Beat, JTTCOTE, The Little Mermaid Theater), you can find more familiar ones that have more direct comparisons (ToT, Indiana Jones). You really can't beat the package that's available at TDS.

That would mean buying at least a Starlight pass for the other park. You're in favor of spending more to have less time at each park?

Yeah but it's like betting on both red and black on the roulette wheel...you're going to be losing either way.

Do not do both parks in one day. Visit DisneySea. There is so much detail you'll want to soak it up like a sponge. If you choose to do both parks you'll feel rushed and it will greatly affect your day.
