Disney Stores in Tokyo

Maybe this is slightly off topic but...

Do you know where are them and wich one is the not-to be missed? I saw the pics of Not Afraid and was wondering if there are others and if they are uniquely themed as they usually are in the largest and most important cities (e.i. NY City, Rome...)

The Shibuya Main Store is one of the two most popular stores in Japan. The store in Ikspiari at Tokyo Disney Resort is also big but not as elaborately themed.

There are so many Disney Stores all over Japan, it would be impossible to point out the ones that have the most charm. Once you have seen one, you pretty much have seen them all...and they are all GREAT to visit. The Shibuya location is about the nicest one I have visited, and so is the one at TDR's Ikspairi. The one at Shinsaibashi in Osaka is nice too. There are others in Narita, Yokohama, Hep5 in Osaka...etc etc. I just love taking a few seconds of my time to visit the japanese Disney Stores. They remind me of what our Disney Stores in the USA used to be like before Pressler screwed them up.

Yes, OLC took ownership of the stores about 2-3 yrs ago or so...

I just love taking a few seconds of my time to visit the japanese Disney Stores. They remind me of what our Disney Stores in the USA used to be like before Pressler screwed them up.

Actually, Pressler didn't ruin the USA stores. That happened well after he was gone screwing up DL and then the entire empire of parks.

The one thing Pressler did a great job of was running The Disney Store chain when it experienced huge growth and profits.

Besides when looking at how messy the World of Disney store in Anaheim has been over the past week, it reminded me the shape of TDS's over the past 5 years. People are such pigs!

Oh, thanks for correcting me then... And yes, people are pigs. WOD was a disaster area this past weekend due to the high crowds, but they are still much better than Wal-Mart's post-terrorist attack mess in their stores.

I got the impression from many sources (in fact I didn't read anything saying otherwise) that when Pressler was in charge, it was the Golden Age for Disney Stores. After all, that is his speciality.

Here are some pictures from the store. As I recall there are 3 floors - 4 including the ground floor. If you are in the area, check it out. It not huge like NY City, but just enough to spend an hour and gawk at the merchandise. So many items I wanted to buy, but realizing I was going to TDL, I waited. However, I bought a few Tokyo Disney Resort Magazines. As far as I recall it is 1 block away from tower records. Northwest of the Shibuya JR Station.

Three floors is correct. And MAN was it crowded. Each display area had people 3-deep looking at stuff. Of course, I am Mrs. Godzilla in Japan - at a purse to my almost 6' frame and I just don't fit very well. But, I found there was a LOT of different merchandise than what was carried at the Parks.
