Re: Tribute: Disney's Dreams on Parade "Movin On"

This parade is also why I came to love Tokyo Disney soo much...hahaha.
This has been my favorite parade ever.
When I first visted the park close two years ago no one was interested in watching the parade but when I saw parts of it from the line we were waiting I came to regret it.
So then I watched the youtbe videos and yeah, I came a little obessesd with this parade but yeah, it's so good.

So then I found out that April 7th would be the final day.
So I decided to travel all the way to Japan to see it.
Hahahaha, I'm in the hotel lobby typing this at the moment...

Anyways when I got to the park early enough to get there when the main gates opened and already at 9 am people where waiting along the curbside for the parade.
Finally I decided to wait at the spot I have figured had the been best from the youtube videso I watched so many times.

The hour left to show time announcement played as did the half hour left to show time played.

Finally ten minutes before show time, an announcement played that parade had been cancelled due to the rain.

Hahahaha, the most disappointing moment ever.
Hahahaha......yeah so I kinda just waiting on the curbside afor like twenty minutes at least along with other people I assume where fans as well....

I saw cast memebers and so many other guests crying a lot.
I asked a cast member if they would have the parade today, April 8th.
But she said that the 7th was suppose to be the fianl date and she was sad about it as well.
I went to Main Street House (Guest Relations) to double check and I got the same answer.

Wow, I still can't get over it.
The closest I got to experiencing that parade were the announcements that played the parade music in the background.

    Sad sauce.
    i've got no strings.

MAJOR OUCH, a shy kid! Coming all that way from West Covina just to see this parade. Sorry mother nature didn't let it happen. It looks like "Jubilation!" won't happen either for a few days as we're expecting heavy rains until Thursday. Let's just hope for no rain next Tuesday the 15th!

By the way, a shy kid, I was raised in West Covina. (Check your private messages)

Isn't there a superstition saying that if the first run of the parade is rained out that it is good luck?

I don't know if that superstition applys to every Parade and/or show TDR produceses. However, I've read that there is a superstition reguarding TDL's Major Birthdays. It poured on TDL's 15th and 20th, and they both were wonderful campains for TDL.

It also poured on the Park's opening day in 1983 hence the ceremony inside World Bazaar.

It also rained on TDL's opening day in 1983. The opening ceremony had to be moved to World Bazaar. So what does that tell you...?

EDIT: Oooops! Joe beat me to that info up above!

That there should be more covered areas in all the other Disney Parks like World Bazzar so people can still enjoy something when the weather isn't favorible?

On an unrelated note, I like how my post was largely ignored about the previous anniversery video of PoD. I guess I'll never find out what happened to that video, as it was THE VIDEO that made me fall in love with the resort.

For TDS, it was cloudy and sprinkling most of the previous night. The morning of Sept 4th started the same way but the rain stopped shortly before the opening ceremony. Just seconds before Roy Disney Jr. began his speech, the clouds parted and, literally, rays of sunshine shone down at TDS.

That was sad the rain ruined the final performance of "Moving On" I mean would it really have thrown off anything having perform the next day? I'm sure the floats didn't turn into pumpkins at midnight.

This parade in both versions was by far and large one of the best parades Disney has ever done. This is one of the ones that has inspired me greatly....along with POD and Mythica.

    It will never be forgotten.
Design, color, music, scope, scale...just perfection.

While DDOP was a fabulous and inspiring parade, I have to disagree on being the best. In my humble opinion... the very best parade ever performed at any of the Disney park was TDL's Disney Carnivale, the 15th anniversary parade. It just doesn't get any more lavish, bigger and vibrant than that. Not before or since that one. It was an epic parade, plain and simple.
