Help planning our first trip

My son (age 17) and I are planning our first trip to Japan for next year. We plan to spend about two weeks in the country of which 4 or 5 days will be at the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. We have two options of when to go. First would be to incorporate the week of my son's Spring break. I would prefer to visit the Disney Resort at the end of our trip, probably Tue-Fri and return home on Sat. This means we would be in the Resort either April 6-10 or April 13-17, 2010.

The second option would be in the Summer after school gets out. The earliest we would be in the resort would be June 20-24, 2010. We could also go later, up to mid-August but I am no fan of crowds, heat, humidity or typhoons!

So, opinions about which option or week is better? Pros/Cons? Thanks for any advice.

Re: Help planning our first trip

I recommend April 13-17. In early April, you may catch the tail end of spring vacation for some of the Japanese school kids, which means larger crowds. However, I believe April 15 is TDL's anniversary, so that could be a larger crowd day - maybe go to TDS that day instead.

I've never been to Japan in the summer (only April), but the way it has been described by many, and by you, it just doesn't sound as enjoyable. The weather in April can be a little cool and rainy at times, but we were comfortable wearing tee shirt, jeans and a light jacket or sweater.

Also, your idea of going on weekdays is good - less crowded. Have fun planning!

Thanks for the reply. I was leaning towards that week but also hoping for more opinions from others that visit the parks frequently. Perhaps I will post my query again in another section.
