Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Oh my gosh!
Spoiler

Firstly... is that the Ring lady from Desmond's flash? And is Ben not the big cheese? He seemed to be reporting to her. When I first saw her, I thought she was Daniel's mother.

And how clever of Hurley to run out to the police to escape Ben. How is Ben going to recruit him? And Ben is constantly the hardest person to read. I never know whether he is the good guy or the bad guy.

Moving to Jack, is he even supposed to be in the hospital after his breakdown? I do like him a lot better not drugged. Whats he gonna do with Sayid? And what is going to go on between Sun & Kate. I have to say... Ben has his work cut out for him. And only 72 hours.

Finally, I absolutely LOVED Ben's circular logic to Hurley. "I spoke to Jack... how else would I know Sayid was with him."

Thank you so much Carlton & Damon for yet another AMAZING episode. I wasn't sure how it would go with being on & off the island but they did it perfectly. Two thumbs way, way up. And the previews for the upcoming weeks look AMAZING.

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

That was awesome. I'm not going to use the spoiler boxes because the shows have ended on the west coast. First, I loved how the Pierre Chang(1) scene mimicked the Desmond scene in the first episode of season 2 (how many people think they know who Dr. Chang's little boy is? ). It was interesting to hear Dr. Chang tell that one guy that there were rules that had to be followed when travelling through time. It makes one think back to a time when Ben kept saying, "He broke the rules..." Also, I wonder when we'll find out where in their sequence of island time-hopping Daniel ended up in the hatch construction crew?
Next, I guess we now know which item 1950s Richard expected little Locke to pick in the flashback last season.
This island time-hopping thing could be a good way to explain some of the island's history, if they can just stay in one place long enough.
Stupid, stupid Hurley. The biggest piece of advice Dead Anna Lucia tells you is don't get arrested, and what do you do? Now there needs to be a big elaborate prison break episode, filled with peril and the potential to clash with Mr. Widmore's men. I can't wait.
Well, it was nice of the producers to let Frogurt have a decent role this season, albeit briefly (2).
I got so excited when they reintroduced Mrs. Hawking. When they reintroduced her as a cloaked woman doing time-traveling equations in the basement of a Los Angeles church, my first thought was this: all the best time-travelers must be Catholic.
The numbered items are for those who haven't followed the internet stuff.

(1) It was established in a video shown at Comic Con in L.A. that Marvin Candle/Edgar Halliwax/etc's real name is Pierre Chang.
(2) Frogurt was introduced in the first of the "Missing Pieces" episodes, which was an internet filler series leading up to season four. In the episode, Frogurt was established as a rival to Hurley for Libby's affections.

Actually, I asked Damon and Carlton directly about that at a signing for the DVD/BluRay release of season 4 and they said that Alpert was testing Locke to make sure he wasn't violent and there was no single right answer. They said a few of his choices were right, but I'm assuming the knife showed him Locke's inherent violent nature.

BTW - They're both super-nice guys. It was such a pleasure to meet them. ^_^

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Awesome! I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Abrams once. He had a "Lost" script with him (during the first season), and without realizing who he was, I asked him if it was his. His response was, yes, I wrote it. I then promptly freaked out (politely) and told him I loved that show; the "Lock with the wheelchair" episode in particular. He said he wrote that episode and I had made his day. I don't have any pictures, though as that would've been uncool (I was working at the time).

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Here is an article to peruse:

Lost Redux: Who Won't Survive Another Week? - E! Online

There are some spoilers on upcomming episodes in there, so if you want to avoid those, don't read the "What's to Come" portion. Also, when Kristen talks about Mrs. Hawking being Daniel's mom, that was my immediate thought, as well (so I exaggerated a little when I said it was that time-traveling Catholics thought). But then I realized she wasn't at Oxford -- or else Ben is really fast (maybe he has a jet)? But then, she is Mrs. Hawking; she might be at Oxford in time to see Desmond.

'Lost' opener gets low viewership
Quote:
Lost took a bit of a beating last night in the ratings, thanks to Fox's line-up of American Idol at 8, followed by new show Lie To Me, reports USA TODAY's Gary Levin. According to preliminary Nielsen numbers, this was the lowest opening yet for Lost, which averaged 11.4 million viewers during its two-hour season return. Idol drew 24.2 million viewers and Lie To Me pulled in 13.2 million viewers, which was good but not nearly as good as last January's Moment of Truth, which debuted after Idol and raked in 23 million.

A bit off-topic, but have you seen "Futurama: Bender's Big Score"?

Yeah, I'm hoping the skipping at least slows down a bit so we can spend more time in each period (especially 'past' periods).

I thought it was funny that Michelle Rodriguez of all people was trying to get the message out to not get arrested. Guess that's why Hurley didn't take her seriously.

I also have a question.... does anyone know who was it who died in the fire/arrow scene (where Sawyer tells Juliet to "leave them alone, they're dead")? Was that a main character or an extra?

I'm guessing it was a stuntman/extra. No major character, but someone who's died on this show lots of times bofore At least, that's what I'm going with until the show says otherwise.
I hope Bernard and Rose are safe. Everyone else was supposed to meet at the... (brainfart)... shore? I hope they didn't meet up with some of those precutionary-amputating Dharma guys like Juliet and Sawyer did. What time do you think they were from? 1950s? Those 815'ers didn't know how good they had it, did they?

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

I had a thought after reading one of the Jeff Jensen articles, and I just wanted to get this down before I forgot it again.
Spoiler
In the article, he suggests that maybe Charlotte's timeline could be getting wiped out. What if that one Dharma guy named "Smith" that Sawyer and Juliette ran into was actually Charlotte's dad? If Locke killed him, how can Charlotte be born?

You're probably thinking to yourself that I'm just saying that because he's British. My response would be yes, because that's all I've got right now.
