Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

That was a very good episode. Very informative. I love how Desmond named his son Charlie!
I wonder if Charles was always an other, or if he became one, like Cindy the flight attendant or Ben (probably more along the lines of Ben, as he's kind of evil like him).
So, if Desmond and Penny go to Los Angeles where Dan's mom is, they'll also be going to where Ben "I-swear-I'll-kill-your-daughter" Linus is.
What do you want to bet that the place where the bomb (named Jughead") is where the hatch ended up? That's just my guess. Of course I didn't see any cliffs where a plane from Africa could crash, but it's a theory.
Oh, and...
Spoiler
it looks like Charlotte will be okay. You can totally see her standing in the background in a clip from the next episode.

Here is this story. Two things:
1. Sleeping on it and having my conscience kick in, I would like to apologize for the statement I made last night. As a woman, I know there are a few tricks a gal can do before resorting to surgery.
2. I wrote my comment on here before I read this article.
3. (Okay, three things) There are minor spoilers in this.

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Okay I stayed up way too late to watch this but here are my thoughts and such:
-Can I just point out hottest guy of the night: Richard Alpert. Even though he doesn't age and could be older than dirt he comes into the screen (and the shirt he was wearing in the 50s, it may have been old but still... he looks classic and almost timeless) he's still hot.
- Second hottest (by a fraction of a point) Daniel. I don't know why. But he was adorable.
-Desmond just has style. Dang! If I go live on a boat will my hair look perfect all the time?

-I'm okay if Charlotte dies.
-I want to believe Daniel is good. Afterall he's "Gene from Eugene" in "Rescue Dawn" and I loved that character. Plus he seems like all he wants to do is help the people on the Island and his ship people. I think he may have accidentally hurt that girl (Spencer?) but now wants to make good.
-Do we know which person from the 50s was Friendly?
-Favorite line of the night "I'm okay too. Thanks for asking." I'm glad we got to see the ghost guy do his thing. We normally had no idea what he did aside from something supernatural and here we saw it.
-Someone on Aintitcoolnews asked this/noticed this but now I realize it's bugging me: Charlie, Charles, Charlotte...?! Now there's another Charlie? What? Seriously I know the last one was to get attention and make us remember Dom but dang! They're going to use that to make us all confused. Like somehow one of those Chars is going to be the baby or Desmond's baby is going to get caught in a flashblack and be his own grandpa. Because Lost writers are just that crazy...

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Stuff to read:

'Lost' recap: Time after time | Lost | 1 | TV Recaps | Totally 'Lost' | EW.com

Quote:
Jeebus, I'm almost at 2000 words, and I haven't even gotten to the biggest news of the episode: Charles Widmore was an Other! And a ruthless, cocksure one at that, willing to snap a colleague's neck and pop off to Richard Alpert that no one knows the island better than he does. What this means for the show's mythos is still anyone's guess: When did Widmore leave the island? Was he born there? If he wasn't, how long had he been there? And if he did indeed spearhead the Dharma Initiative, doesn't that mean Dharma wasn't so much an outside intruder than a Great Schism within the Other population itself?
'Lost': Doc Jensen's 'Jughead' take | PopWatch Blog | EW.com

Quote:
Is He A Lover Or A Liar? Daniel Faraday told Charlotte that he [hearts] her last night. But we also learned that Danny-boy gave an old girlfriend the time travel STD and left her to waste away while he skipped off to America. Faraday probably carries about 9 tons of guilt in that backpack of his, so it made me wonder: when he told Charlotte that he dug her red headed, nose-bleeding cheese, was he genuinely serious—or was he just trying to save from the time travel sickness by playing the part of her constant? If I’m correct that Doc Faraday doesn’t really love Charlotte, but he’s just trying to save her, then he reminds me of another romantically-challenged, messiah-complex MD prone to becoming emotionally enmeshed with his patients.
And to watch, should you have missed it or desire reference:

Spoiler
By the way, on the same page as this, the site claims to have another episode called "Destiny Calls" which the site says aired the same night. I haven't watched it, but does anyone know what the name of the next episode is?

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Remember back the season before last ...the episode in which John blows up the sub?

Remember John asking how Otherville was powered and Ben flippantly told him they had a mouse on a wheel?

I am thinking a decaying Jughead may be the power source....just spitballing here

I agree. He's pretty funny, but freaked out when he should be! It would be cool to see more explanation on him this season. Looks like there will be no SAG strike, thank goodness!

You know I totally missed that. I just thought how odd it was he was named after Penny's Father. Charles Windmore....now it makes more sense.

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

I hate that the Extended Experience edition of the second episode spoiled what I take is supposed to be a fairly meaningful reveal. Urgh. I liked last episode a lot, though. I think Jughead goes to the hatch, but the placement looked off.

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Happy Lost Day! There are some things to read and watch, but they do contain spoilers. I don't think they're too entirely bad, but I will be using the enter button and spoiler boxes, just in case.
First, we have an article by Doc Jensen about tonight's episode and discussion on the book which may have inspired it.

'Lost': My name is 'Prince'! | 1 | 'Lost': Doc Jensen | TV | Totally 'Lost' | Entertainment Weekly

(Not a spoiler, just speculation from the author on the previous episode and overall storyline.)
Quote:
"Charles Widmore was a neck-breaking, Latin-spouting Other during the 1950s! Which means that Present Day Widmore has known of the castaways much longer than they've known of him. That has implications for theory makers. You now have to wonder to what degree and for how long Widmore has been manipulating castaways in pursuit of his mysterious goals."
Then we have another episode of "Totally Lost", which discusses last week's episode, and does offer some teasers for tonight.

Totally Lost (2/4/09)

Enjoy!

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Here are some more things to peruse on this fine Lost Day. These are articles from Doc Arzt's (and Friends) Lost Blog.
First, we have an article explaining why tv ratings don't matter for "Lost". Basically, the final seasons have been okayed by everyone necessary, and the show is as safe as DCA's rehab refurb.
Don’t Worry, LOST Won’t Get Cancelled (Even if the ratings suck) DocArzt’s LOST Blog

Here's a piece speculating on what it means to be an Other.
Probatur Vegrandis Res (Looking at the Little Things, “Jughead” addendum!) DocArzt’s LOST Blog

Quote:
"So, clearly it’s not just a matter of brains or talent. If it were just those, any one of the people listed above should have been very desirable to the Others. It’s also not just a willingness to believe in the seemingly supernatural qualities of the Island, or Locke and Rose would have been scooped right up. It’s not even a willingness to do literally anything up to and including laying down one’s own life in the service of the Island or, again, Locke would have been at the top of the List."

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

LOST is ON!!!!!!!!!

Spoiler

Great opening. Nothing mind-blowing, but excellent nonetheless. Loved the little 'backstory' with Kate & Jack. Don't exactly know what Sun's plans are with Aaron (or Kate for that matter) and not sure what shes gonna do with the information sent to her.

But I cannot wait to see what happens.

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Spoiler

Anyone find it odd how there was a kind of glow around Juliet as she was leaning over Charlotte?

BLotN: "Hooray, everything's back to normal"- Miles

Kate's scene was quite interesting. Who exactly wants the blood sample?

What was up with the music when Sawyer wanted to go back to the Orchid?

Why is Jack going without drugs so easily?

Love how Sayid is like a Ninja now.

Leave it to Kate to live at the address '42'.

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Spoiler

Loved the scene where Locke knows the other him is regaining a hold on life with the Hatch's light. Also likes how he keeps mysterious about it.

Also loved scene with Kate/Claire/Aaron. It really shows connection Kate has with Aaron. But how sad for Sawyer, having to watch Kate disappear again. He must feel horrible.

But now how is Ben going to get to Hurley, how will Sayid stop him, and what is going to happen with Jack/Kate/mystery people. And what is Sun doing with Aaron? Will she kill Ben/Jack?

Re: 'LOST' 5 - spoilers ahead, again

Spoiler

"Are you sure about that?"-Faraday. Was Miles on the island before? Is he the son of Dr. Candle?

Love them all in the pocahontas boat.

So Claire's mother knows something and wants Aaron back. Is she with Widmore? Not that big a reveal though considering the 'Previously... on Lost' segment.

And finally, in what is so far the Funniest Line of the season, Sawyer looking up at the sky during the flash and yelling, "Thank you Lord!!!!!!!!.... I take that back!!!!!!!!"
