This was how I felt. I think there will be a tendency for the audience to expect something along the lines of High School Musical, which I feel this is based on. I think Fox looked at the Mileage that Disney was getting out of the film franchise and thought they would cash in on the same demographic. The trouble is, HSM seems targeted toward 8 -13 year olds, and this show seems targeted to college aged kids. Quite a bit of raunch in there if you came in expecting a Disney show. Rather than focusing on music, it seemed that the focus of the episode was on bumping and grinding, and how abstinence is ridiculous and all high school kids are going to do it anyway, so why even try.

I mean...I'm SURE that Fox isn't aiming this toward elementary school kids with a 9 pm time slot, but it was like seeing the cast of HSM do a big dance number on everyone having teen sex. I kept trying to picture that choreography in DCA.

It just seemed weird to me. It was like Porky's meets HSM. I just came away from this show tonight with the thought that there would be MORE than enough material to have an interesting show there without slamming Celibacy clubs, if there really are such things, and without going into specifics on teen hormones.

Bottom line is there's no way I'm letting my kids watch this. Again, Fox is obviously going after a different demographic here. It's NOT HSM...it's a completely different show. It was just jarring in that the content of the show seemed 180 degrees in the other direction.

Re: New Fox Musical TV Series - Glee (Merged)

See I came across that the theme and plot in this episode was all about wanting. Not sex per-say though.

-Will wants the Glee club to do well.
-Will wants to provide for his new family and the Glee kids.
-Terry wants the "perfect family image" with the big house, the overly done things.
-Terry wants a baby and will fake anything to do it.
-Sue wants to be the star.
-Emma wants Will, but doesn't know how to go about it because he's married (and what she said to Will about the date made me feel sad. She's so... I like her character. Don't like Cam.).
-Rachel wants Finn.
-Rachel wants to be the star.
-Rachel wants to be liked.
-Finn wants to be in the Glee club and football.
-Finn wants Quinn.
-The Glee kids want to be liked and not picked on.

And in general it felt like all the wanting was left unresolved and a theme/moral point was that these wants and desires aren't often great to have. Everyone suffered because of their wants. Maybe Ryan, the writer, was making a point about that? I think he was with Terry. The big house with the grand foyer with the pregnancy? But the problem I had was I just felt like the thing about Rachel throwing up and then what Emma said later, could've done without that comment. The "Push It" I think was trying to make a point and see the absurdity in the whole thing, but the movements were more what got me. I don't know. I think coming from the awesome pilot we all were thinking one thing and it came out different.

I did like the "Golddigger" number along with the "Take a Bow" number. And overall I liked the episode, but there were one or two times I felt odd. But this is Fox and the guy that wrote "Nip/Tuck."

It was all right, not as good as the first ep. The singing and dancing is the best part but it is WAY too obvious that the singing is fake (a shame because from what i have read the kids are actually singing). I thought the first part was a dream ,even w/a second job there's on way they could afford a house like that!

Idk, it was ust ok.

Ok, can someone please kill the "Single Ladies" song and dance? It's way over-done now and I found that to be overly-annoying and it killed the episode for me.

I agree about the over exposure of the "Single Ladies" song and dance. For me, though, I still enjoyed the episode. It was probably my favorite episode, yet, after the premiere. That will probably change, though. I was proud of Kurt for being a great kicker on the football team. I didn't see that one coming. I continually love that everyone knows that Kurt is gay, but he denies it. I don't think anything topped the reaction of Kurt's Dad when Kurt came out to him. There's a lot more including Sue's Corner and what not, but those are the things that stuck out to me.

I can't wait until the next episode! I think it's going to be a good one! For anyone interested in the Glee Volume 1 CD, it is on preorder at Amazon. It's set to be released on November 3rd. I think you can release the Glee DVD set on Amazon, but there's no other date! At Wal-mart, they are selling a Director's Cut of the Pilot episode for $5.00. Inside, there's a code for a free T-shirt. I got my DVD shortly after it was released at Wal-mart. I think it was at the beginning of the month, and I already got my T-shirt. You can only get an adult large, and it's red with Glee in an orangish yellow color. It's not bad for a free T-shirt

By now, everyone probably already knows this, but Glee was renewed for a full season of twenty-two episodes

Agreed. I don;t understand why everyone thinks it;s a good video, either. But I guess that's OT here lol

Tonight's episode was so cute! I kept thinking "No Rachel!" But the performances... that's what I love!

I haven't seen the show, until tonight. It was great to see Kristin Chenoweth in the episode . . . . .

she reminded me of Amy Sedaris in "Strangers with Candy"!

It helps that last night's show barely had the wife on -- that part is the worst part of the show.

As well as less of that "perfect" girl.
