Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

I watch Disney Channel when I need to sleep. I work nights so if I wake up and I still need 4 more hours of sleep, turn on Disney Channel and it's something I don't need to think about to watch or pay too much attention to. Problem with Disney Channel is they show are these very vocal and "snarky" teenage girls thinking that's a good character, but they're not good role models. I know Selena Gomez's Alex is a good example, but even Hannah/Miley is essentially a liar who is always gets into trouble because she schemes.

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

I have 2 children in the 5-10 bracket initially posted about - they love the shows on Disney.

From P&F, to Hannah Montana, Drake and Josh, Suite Life, and Wizards (tho wizards is slightly older).

I don't worry about any of those shows being 'too old' for my kids. The 6yr old's favorite is probably iCarley tho which is Nick.

If you want other stuff that is of a different breed, there is plenty on ABC Family too (tho they have many shows that are more HS aged).

Disney needs more shows before they have more channels. Just look at the Channel's schedule.. the afternoon on is the same 4 shows repeated forever.

Shows like Suite Life, P&F, Hannah Montana, and Drake and Josh are all fine for that age group. Unless you hide your children from any kids that are older then them.

More cartoons! I dislike all of these shows that they show, they're basically all the same.

They have older shows they just don't show them.

They have a bunch of made for tv movies too. They just don't show them.

I don't know why they play the same things over and over when they could be showing the older stuff they had:

These are some I loved when I was young(er):

So Weird (a little scary, but kid friendly show about a girl interested in the supernatural and had her website about it). The main girl wasn't super cute, or snarky, or a liar. She never sang either. Though her mother was in a band that was often on tour. For that reason, the show was better cause each episode's location was different. It was funny, sometimes creepy, and always interesting. I even got my uncle and my father into it.

Even Stevens (yes the kids were in high school but unlike the scheming Miley, the main chacter got in trouble)

Lizzie McGuire (Ok I know, but Lizzie was never rude to her parents and the show had a good way of introducing pre-teen problems in a very kid friendly way.) Lizzie was girly, but she was into other stuff too-- like football. (the show also dealt with some important issues: like when Lizzie's friend wouldn't eat becuase she thought she was fat)

The Mickey Mouse club: The older version I just laugh at, but still enjoy the nostalgia. The newer one with little justin timberlake had a lot of cute skits too. I don't understand why they don't occasional show this.

Chip and dale rescue rangers ( I don't remember much, but I can still sing part of theme song)

Zorro (black and white, but still fun and intresting becuase tv shows and acting were done a little differently)

Recess (cartoon about elementary school kids..I don't remember much, but i loved it.)

Bug Juice ( I didn't like this, but my sister loved it. It was a reality show about kids at summer camp. At least some variety.

This is all I can think of. And though I do like Hannah Montana and Wizards, I recognize why parents would not be happy with those options.

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

I totally think that Disney needs to adjust its programming. I've been re-watching Ducktales and Rescue Rangers this past week, and when I compare it to what's out there today, it's not wonder that kids are having problems! It's simply too much too soon. Why can't kids have some time between learning their ABCs on TV and the tween/teen drama show junk?

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

I'm a teen and I hate the teen shows. I miss old Disney shows like Buzz lightyear and Talespin. The only thing I'll watch on those channels is old shows they rarely play, but when they do they're on at 2 in the morning(how disrespetful to the shows, noone can enjoy them without a Tivo) or the preschool shows, like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I don't realyl like the Pooh show because it doesnt have Christopher Robin. They made a joke out of it by adding that girl and her annoying dog

I'm a miley cyrus fan, but im sick of little three year olds watching the show and thinking their fans, even though they think her names hannah montana or miley stewart. I don't really liek the show anymore because it just makes me think of all the little kids watching it and it makes me sick

Actually, I thought Alex was the worst example. She hates being seen as a kid who doesnt get in trouble. In one episode, she turns "good" and is upset about it and has to do bad things to make herself feel better again. Its not right

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

I dont mind the Disney teen comedy's, Suite life on Deck, Wizards and Hannah are pretty good shows and I find them funny (im 26) and kids love them. I think whats lacking is a few proper Disney cartoons which have the characters that the parks have. Modern versions of Mickey mouse or Uncle scrooge or something like that. Phineas and ferb and a few others just dont need to be on Disney

I would say keep 4 of the current comedy's and work on a few new Disney cartoons using classic characters.

I am using Australian Disney channel as I dont know what American one is like but I would like to see a few more park specials and things filmed from the parks. Its almost free Disneyland advertising that makes kids want to go and we would all love to see it.

my 2 cents...

But i do agree they need their cartoons back.
The saddest thing about TWDC is how they demoted Mickey Mouse -- who should remain as an Everyman as created by Walt Disney -- to a character meant only to entertain babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

I completely agree. These days, it's hard enough for kids to retain their innocence. Shows like Hanna Montana and Wizards glorify being a teenager and going against your parents wishes. Now days, when I see kids from age 6 to 12, they act very rude, and this worries me quite a bit. Disney Channel used to be about the adventure and fun of being a little kid, not rushing to grow up, like it is today. Walt himself would roll over in his grave if he saw the abominations that the Disney Channel has created today.

Hanaha Montana is always about the repercussions of doing wrong. See a show start to finish before you jump on the bandwagon.

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

The numbers don't lie.... Disney Channel IS for kids, and they certainly love it.

At the cost of them not knowing about what Disney really is about until they grow up, sadly.

Then again, I was raised on Nickelodeon and jump for joy whenever something Disney Channel-related fails (cough-JONAS-cough), so I'm not really a good guy to offer opinions on this. Other than Hannah Montana being a glorified infomercial, that is.

Disney XD should be showing the old Disney Afternoon toons, if they aren't already. They are showing the old Marvel shows.
