I don't think they need a whole channel for adults. I think they should turn the Disney Channel or the XD Channel into a "Nick at Nite" type thing, except make it Disney and show Disney Vault stuff. That would be awesome. But I don't think they would have the kind if audience to need 24 hr programming.

Aww, I love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! My 2 yr old LOVES Mickey Mouse, he gets as excited as I do to see him! And that wouldn't happen without MMCH. I see nothing wrong with introducing the Fab 5 to kids that young, it's just starting the Disney indoctrination that much earlier! That doesn't mean they couldn't do something else with Mickey, but I love MMCH and hope it stays! (which, due to it's popularity, I am sure it will)

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

Disney already has more than one channel...along with the flagship there's already Toon Disney, or maybe that's been replaced by something called Disney XD.

All I know is the amount of time I've spent watching any of those channels in the past year is less than the time it's taken for me to post this in this thread.

A "Vault Disney Classic" channel would be a no-brainer, you'd think, since it would give them a whole new demo to target advertisers to. A demo, by the way, with typically the largest amount of disposable income.

But all Disney seems to be interested in programming to are those pre-schoolers and teenagers.

An example of that soul you mentioned:

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

The LEAST Disney could do is finish releasing the old school cartoons on DVD...but its looking less and less likely we will see another volume of Adventures of the Gummi Bears. Tear.

They truly don't make cartoons like they used to. Though, as mentioned earlier, Phineas and Ferb is an awesome show! Occasionally a few good eggs show up. I know this isn't Disney, but Avatar: The Last Airbender is phenomenal.

But I don't understand where all the tween hate is coming from. Sure, its cheesy and campy and the characters are snot faces, but if we're defending our cartoons, what about our tween shows as well? I'm sure you still have fond memories of Boy Meets World, Saved by the Bell, and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. But the main characters of all these shows were very "snarky" and were scheming. Especially that Zack Morris!

I think it's just the cycle of things, really. When the children watching HM and Suite Life now grow up and see what their kids are watching, they'll have the same kinds of thoughts as we are now. Everything was always better when we were kids...

I respectfully disagree. I think if it was done properly, as I said before, it could open them up to the huge baby boomer demographic, and even following generation demo. It is typically the older demos that have the most disposable income.

With the decades of movies and programming and specials and the like that they would have at their disposal, I just don't see how this wouldn't be a revenue generator for them, if they'd just open their eyes to it.

Re: They need a new Disney Channel for KIDS!

There was an old Disney Channel advertisement from 1991 which tells you just how far down we've gone.

It said "Bobby Smith watches The Disney Channel every day. His son doesn't seem to mind."

The picture was of this father figure wearing glasses, and his son on his back. Seeing people want a Disney Channel for kids or for ANY demographic to me is obsurd. It would probably make them a fortune, but to me it's just another bit of society losing.

The Disney Channel used to be great for EVERYONE. Those days are long gone. Kids were able to tolerate better television.
