Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

Greetings Whovians from all over the Whoniverse.

Since the Doctor Who Miceclub has gone the way of the Dodo I'll post this here.

As the end of David Tennant's reign as the Doctor nears closer I thought I'd post a link to the trailer.

I'm excited to see Matt Smith as the next Doctor but a bit sad to see David go. Oh well.
I've been a Who fan since the mid 80's so this just goes with the territory.

Waters of Mars airs in England on November 15th on BBC 1 and will air in the States on December 19th on BBC America.

The count down begins. . . . 3 episodes left.

The beginning of the end.

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

The Waters of Mars= Wars of the Master. Just a fun little anagram I thought woiuld be apropriate to share you guys!

and honestly, so far I haven't been liking the new guy at all in the bits i've seen. But I'll hold out a bit of hope. at least moffat's head writer now. but there is going to be a bit of bawwing during the christmas two parter. We got to watch the trailer for it at comic con this year about 3-4 different times (david wanted to replay it) during the who panel. (people went nuts.)It's going to be insane finale for tennant, but that's the best way to see him go I think.

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

As far as Matt Smith I will hold my opinion on him too.

The only Doctor I really can't watch without having an averse reaction to is Colin Baker.
I've tried to like his stories but he's just to grumpy for my taste and always bickering with Peri.

I've just recently started re-watching the Patrick Troughton episodes. Excellent stuff.

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

Colin Baker .... yeah, I never took to him. I can deal with a Doctor who's charming, or quirky, or a number of things, but Colin B never really seemed to "be" the Doctor. Never really took it to heart.

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

I don't want to see David go, =/

He was my first Doctor, or, is my first doctor... I don't have much to judge him on, but I've watched the first season of the revival with Christopher Ecclessirehtsoasfjnaejaejgasdakjovjairesjbgsegsten . I liked his quirkiness.

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

Just for fun, here's a link to the latest episode of The Graham Norton Show featuring David Tennant, Johnny Vegas, and Alison Moyet.

This show has an emphasis on Doctor Who and the end of David Tennants reign as the Doctor.

Don't worry this is a spoiler free interview.

Enjoy.

I was surprised by the ending myself.

Spoiler
Funny, because the episode felt like a standard Doctor Who episode with David running around talking a mile a minute while he saves the day. Reluctantly until the end.

But the ending was something that I've never seen the Doctor do as far as his character goes. And what does that "No" mean at the end when he's standing at the console? And where is he heading off to in the TARDIS?

As far as the preview, it's looking good. The Master with the skull thing going on. Reminded me of the Tom Baker Master! AH!
The fanboy in me just passed out!

Is this the end for the Doctor/Donna? The Return of the Timelords? (complete with the funny hats) The Master getting his final revenge?

Too much! Too much!

Excellent episode, Christmas can't get here fast enough!!!

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

Spoiler
I really loved the last 5 minutes or so with the conversation the doctor and Adelaide had. It really shows you how close the doctor really could have been and could be to becoming like the master. (thinking the rules of time are solely his to command, etc.) And of course the following realization when Adelaide shoots herself afterward. good snap back into reality, in a horrifying sort of way.

And I don't think he's running specifically anywhere at that end, just away. He'll probably just be called, in a way, back to Donna/the master/etc.

This episode has really made it hit home for me that he's really going to be going. ;_;

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

I'm not a big Doctor Who fan, but I caught that episode of Graham Norton David Tennant was on last weekend and he totally had me charmed, so I DVR'ed Voyage of the Damned this past Sunday and watched it Monday after work and enjoyed it. I plan on watching the last 3 episodes as the trailers for Waters of Mars have me curious. Eventually I'll go back and watch everything from the last 4 series (need to see if the local Blockbuster has them for rent).

Honestly I'd watch series 4 before watching this year's christmas special/tennant's last episodes. With what is known about it, relating to events in series 4 and a certain character, I don't think the impact will be quite the same without it.

I would agree with this. Certain events and characters have been built up in the fourth series that have a great impact on what's going to happen in the Tennant series finale.

So difficult to discuss this with out giving away spoilers or speculating about this or that. Uh! Is Christmas here yet?

Re: Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars

::sitting on my hands waiting::

At least I have the first 7 episodes of William Hartnell to occupy me for a few minutes. They're only half hour episodes, but it's all one story. I think. I've never been able to track down the early stuff but Netflix had a couple of them!
