The "American Gladiators" Are Back...With A Vengence!

NBC Brings "Gladiators" Back To The Ring

Of course, the original episodes are still airing on Disney-owned ESPN Classic.

I wonder if they'll bring back Dan "Nitro" Clark or Lee "Hawk" Rehirman for color with Mike Adamle?

Re: The "American Gladiators" Are Back...With A Vengence!

Perfect fit, most of the original shows were filmed at Universal Studios (synergy), and is perfect for a once a week show on weekends. Say Saturdays at 2 PM, and if needed, easy to move if there is a golf or hockey game that needs to be in the regular time shot.

Also note that it isn't expensive to make, no big prize money (but something decent), some of the cast are contestants (no need to pay them except for the prizes), the Gladiators aren't that expensive, the announcers can be required to work the show in year long contracts for multiple sports, and the amount of back stage staff isn't that high.

Not much risk, but the possibilities of decent to large returns. Smart move!

My mom will be so happy. I think she crushed one back in the day.

Does anyone remember the kid version with JD Roth as host?

My co-worker lives next door to Turbo - has one of the strangest houses I've ever seen.

That was the first three or four seasons according to Wikipedia. The rest IIRC were at CBS' Studio City studios. And IIRC, the show is supposed to be in prime time television, not weekends in the daytime.

And it's what NBC wants to run in the 8-9 slot on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdsay, or Friday as well. And reality/gameshows are cheaper to produce than say a sitcom or drama.
