![]() | Re: Jane Austen-fest on PBS Hooray!! I know when they first mentioned it all they said was "January" and there were quite a few of us that were scared it would be the weekend of the Gumball Rally/Anniversary. HAPPY HAPPY dancing that it is not that weekend!! Wait - I read that wrong. The original plan was for it to be an all day marathon of all Jane all Day I thought! Oh well - at least I can find the times now and be ready! Add me to the list of those clearing space on their DVR's for this one!!

![]() | Re: Jane Austen-fest on PBS Since it took me forever to find on the PBS site (ok, I admit, I didn't see the bottom right corner of the original linked page where it says "complete schedule" until after I'd searched all over the site...) I'll share the schedule. It appears, at least in my time zone, that these are on Sunday nights at 9PM. Persuasion gentlemen. January 13 Sally Hawkins appears as Anne Elliot, a woman destined for spinsterhood after a proposal eight years earlier. Then her spurned suitor reappears. Northanger Abbey January 20 In a medieval house that appeals to her most lurid fantasies, romance addict Catherine Moreland (Felicity Jones) begins a relationship with the younger son of the estate. Mansfield Park January 27 After being sent to live at Mansfield Park, Fanny Price (Billie Piper) navigates a labyrinth of intrigues and affairs among its occupants. Miss Austen Regrets February 3 Courtship she knew well; only the last act eluded her. A film biography that dramatizes Jane Austen’s lost loves. Pride and Prejudice February 10, 17, 24 (2 hours each night) Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle is Elizabeth Bennet in the definitive adaptation of the most-loved of all Austen novels. Emma March 23 (oddly skipping around now and how odd to put it on Easter) Kate Beckinsale stars in the title role as the tireless matchmaker who professes no interest in matrimony for herself, only for her orphaned protégée, Harriet Smith (Samantha Morton). Sense and Sensibility March 30 & April 6 Though poor, levelheaded Elinor Dashwood (Hattie Morahan) and her impulsive sister Marianne (Charity Wakefield) attract a trio of promising

![]() | Re: Jane Austen-fest on PBS My twelve year old and I walk around the house screaming, "It's Jane-uary, WHOOOOO!!" because we're Austen addicts. Been looking forward to this series for six months or more.... We watched Persuasion last night and we both agreed Capt. Wentworth was insanely hot. Good stuff. |

![]() | Re: Jane Austen-fest on PBS I watched it too but had some other goings on happening in the house and so had a hard time hearing all the dialog. Fortunately I did tape it and so will re watch it. From what I was able to see, I thought it was well done and am looking forward to next weeks offering. Wentworth is no Mr. Darcy, but he'll do in a pinch

![]() | Re: Jane Austen-fest on PBS I watched Persuasion last night too and I loved it!!! I thought it was funny that the actor that played Mr. Musgrove (Charles' father) had also played Edmund Bertram in an older version of Mansfield Park. When I saw him, I just couldn't place him and then bam! I knew it was him! I'm such a Jane Austen addict!

![]() | Re: Jane Austen-fest on PBS I was just watching Northhanger Abbey and I noticed that the woman that plays Mrs. Allen is the same actress that was Fanny Price opposite of the actor that was Mr. Musgrove is last week's Persuasion. hehe

![]() | Re: Jane Austen-fest on PBS You really have a good eye for these people. I had commented in an earlier post that I had not been able to enjoy Persuasion last week because of things going on in the house. I did have an opportunity to watch it in peace and quiet later in the week and really enjoyed it once I got all the characters straight. This week the same thing happened. I even missed segments but from what I saw I thought it very well done. I enjoyed how they filmed her imagining the stories she was reading. Again, I recorded it and will rewatch it in peace and quiet.
