Loved seeing Kristen Bell's Elle again & excellent casting of William Katt, star of 'Greatest American Hero'!

Thanks for bringing the show back in the right direction Tim Kring!!!
Sure, but who ever said Moblunder was a genius? He and at times Peter and Hiro consistently make some of the dumbest decisions on this show.

I loved Elle's desperation at-the-throes of death electrical blast at Sylar!

Mmmhmm I have to agree about Sylar, he's attractive in a bad boy way.

I also like Milo though, he's H O T.

Heroes Season Three: More Villains, More VFX

Tara Bennett talks to Heroes vfx producer Mark Spatny about the explosion of awesome work in the series' new season.

The "destruction of Tokyo" sequence in the series premiere
is one of the vfx team's greatest achievements to date for Heroes.

Sometimes a sophomore slump is useful. With Heroes, critics and fans groused loudly that its second season was below the standards set by year one. Whether it was too slow moving or there were too many characters, it seems like every piece of the show became a target. But then the WGA strike hit, giving the creative team a chance to assess what was right and wrong. While the strike was resolved in the spring, NBC decided Heroes would stay off the air and instead return with a fresh new season (and volume) this month.

After nine months off the air, absence has definitely made the heart grow fonder for deprived fans. The time off has also reinvigorated the creative team, as evidenced by their energetic return to form in the third season premiere, The Second Coming. Creator Tim Kring has shifted to a more aggressive style of storytelling that also carries over to the series' visual effects.

Mark Spatny, visual effects producer on the Emmy-nominated vfx team for Heroes, says those changes mean that this season is going to look a lot different. "Obviously, since season three is called Villains, or the first half at least, we really needed to ramp up the idea that these are people with superpowers. In previous seasons, a large part of our visual effects -- and in many of the episodes it was the bulk of the work -- was actually invisible effects and establishing locations.

When it looked like New York, Vegas, India or Haiti -- a large part of that was us. In addition to the invisible effects work, we had been [setting] people on fire and making them fly. But it was a shot here or there selectively to get the point across. This season they have clearly put the emphasis for our work more on superpowers and super destruction. From blowing up more cities or creating black holes, you name it, there is devastation worldwide. So, wow, we are able to improve our pipeline to handle more work and bring on a few more artists."

'Heroes' premiere down 25% from last year

By James Hibberd
The Hollywood Reporter
Sept 23, 2008, 12:46 PM ET

"Heroes"

Quote:
The two-hour premiere of NBC's top drama "Heroes" was down 25% compared with last year's one-hour opener, taking an expected hit following a creatively middling second season and an extended nine-month hiatus prompted by the writers strike.

The "Heroes" debut (9.9 million viewers, 4.9 preliminary adults 18-49 rating and a 12 share) ranked second in the 9 p.m. hour after ABC's "Dancing With the Stars' " return, and second at 10 p.m. following CBS' "CSI: Miami" debut. ("Heroes" was actually down even more, 33%, if you include NBC's heavily protested move to push Nielsen last fall to roll its Saturday repeat rating into its premiere). Clip show lead-in "Heroes: Countdown to the Premiere" (6 million, 2.6/7) placed third in the hour.

NBC's weaker standings gave CBS a clear opening to lead the night, and the network took it: CBS won its first premiere week Monday since 2002.

I forgot about it... The marketing wasn't huge this year. I thought it was premiering in October (like Oct. 22 or 2nd...).

The show before was VERY lame! Oooh, showing us clips NEVER BEFORE SEEN 15 minutes before the show starts. Big deal! I would have rather had a Lost-like catch up.

I enjoyed it for the most part, but wasn't floored or amazed. I kind of felt meh by the end, but it was definitely better than last season by a long shot. Hiro's storyline will probably be the most interesting for me this time around. Claire's looks interesting too. Nathan and Peter kind of bored me. And the Mohinder stuff was meh.

Was anyone... not surprised by the reveal at the end? I was watching the whole time thinking "wow... Milo and Zach look a lot alike. Look at Adrian's eyebrows and Zach's eyebrows..." It didn't surprise me a whole lot. It surprised my guide dog more than it did me (because Mama Petrelli said "Gabriel" and Gabe looked at me like "what?! Huh?" Really cute.). Although the whole hunting your niece is kinda' twisted.

I forgot to come to this thread sooner!

I heart Sylar!

I like the whole Hiro storyline right now. I want Ando to hook up with fast girl. (I forget her name)

And what the heck is happening to Mohinder? He wasn't in the last episode at all.

This is promising to be an interesting season.

I was lovin' future Sylar. He got good! He had finger paint on his hands! He was so cute! I wonder who the mom was. Mohinder... dumb butt. And I really like the Daphne/Matt pairing... even if the actress in my age.

Re: 'HEROES Volume 3' - spoilers ahead

Curse you Heroes writers and creators for making me feel sorry for Sylar.
I too was trying to figure out who the mom was... and how weird was it that the kid was named Noah. Leads me to believe that maybe Sylar and HRG were working together which made Claire mad but then somehow HRG died which made Claire go evil/crazy/stupid but Sylar really did care about him cause he had gone good so he named his kid Noah in his memory... or maybe I'm thinking too hard about future world
Claire still annoys me to no end... she's still so whiney and just annoying! Meanwhile I'm starting to find Peter annoying too and that makes me sad
Not Nikki (Whatever her name is) is also annyoing. I literally LOLed at her being the first lady to President Nathan.
Hiro's probably my favorite part of the show... I think he always and forever will be.
Also, I still love Daphne... probably more now. I can't tell you why. I liked Parkman (who I can't stop calling Pacman cause the African guy sounds like he calls him that)/Daphne too with the baby and Molly. I'm amazed with how little we've seen of her, how sad I was when she showed up at the house and said "I wasn't fast enough"
Also I wanted Mohinder to hit female Wonder Twin (mya?). Can't stand her. then again, he was stupid and I wanna hit him too.

By the end I was hooked again. I love that Heroes can do that too me. I was so uninterested last year and not quite willing to trust it this year, but I feel it's getting so much better (very intense)
I've rambled enough

Great episode! Wonder who the baby mama is of Sylar's kid? Hate what they've done with Mohinder and Claire.
