I agree. I'm all for more attractions at Universal, especially if it is going to be similar to Spider-man at Island of Adventures, but I would hate to loose the special effects show. To me, that is a big part of Universal .... Having the guest participate, and seeing how some of the effects in movies are done. Also, the shows are always running (unless they're being updated) unlike rides that often go down with technical issues.
Yeah I know!!!!!
All sarcasm aside, if it was in fact delayed to 2012, that would be because of A. To compete with Carsland in 2012, and B. Because Michael Bay didn't approve of the ride. I heard early on that MB was never behind the pitched ideas that Uni was considering for the ride so the concept had to be re-done.

There is a rumor going around that the Special Effects Show may get moved to the currently unused "Creature" building. Just a rumor.
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?
When you're down on the lower lot, make sure you check out the Universal Experience- it's been getting regular updates, and has a really cool new "Wolfman" and "Phantom of the Opera" exhibit opening March 12.

I'm sorry but its the truth, the movie was an average kiddy film when it came out and overshadowed Universals much better alien-movie The Thing, causing it to fail. Then 20 years later it got even lamer with a terrible new special effects/alterations and tie-in products. The ride was decent but overtly corny.
It's an opinion, not the truth. And I don't really consider the special edition of E.T. to be the real film anyway, the same way I don't consider the Star Wars special edition to be the real versions either.
E.T. is a great film and The Thing failed for whatever reason. Blaming E.T. isn't exactly good reasoning. It's fine if you don't like it but you're definitely in the minority.
But let's get back on topic here. Transformers ride will be awesome, but it's another nail in the coffin for Universal as a brand. It's becoming "Anyone who isn't Disney" Studios.
