Universal Hollywood New York Street Re-Opens

Following the fire back in June 2008 that destroyed the 4acre backlot area (including King Kong), the New York Street re-opens with the help of Steven Spielberg who helped in its redesign and rebuild.

Anyone going to the park this weekend to see the improvements?

I've walked the streets of the real New York. Many times. I'm happy to say I hope to never do it again.

But good for USH. That was one nasty fire, we were breathing the smoke at the apt. where I lived.

It had been so long that I'd been to Universal before 2 years ago, I heard about a staged helicopter show in the tour. This link is a picture of it

The guys at [Link to unauthorized site removed] also mentioned it on their last trip report days before the fire.

See the caption of the 2nd picture down:

That was apart of King Kong.
She was a newscaster reporting the action and gets swiped by Kong. You see her on a TV screen and then she loses control and the helicopter crashes, exploding and then you go on to the next room where Kong is.

Watching that.... god, I miss it so much!

Yeah the [Link to unauthorized site removed] article was referring to King Kong. That photo is just a publicity photo of the backlot taken during a "film shoot".

Thanks for clarifying that. I think the last time I saw Kong was 1997

Here are a few from the Self-Guided VIP tour from a few weeks ago. We got to walk Courthouse Square and Wisteria Lane. Previous tours have been Little Europe and the War of the Worlds set.
