Can anyone tell me when Universal Studios Hollywood plans to open its new Transformers attraction. Are we looking at a 2011 date?

Thanks, I had heard a 2011 date for Transformers in Singapore and 2012 for Hollywood. But some online sources have given the impression it would open sooner. Which I agree seems a bit quick. And anyway I think Universal would be idiots to open it anytime before Summer 2012. It needs some sort of new attraction to compete with DCA's Cars Land.

I can almost guarantee it'll be Summer not Spring 2012.
I don't think Universal even considers what DL is doing. Seriously, they're not even competition. Completely different demographics, completely different rides. People who want to see Carsland are the kids who love cars. The kids who feel cool and grown up will go to Transformers. There is that divide.
Nobody is going to go to one theme park for one or the other's attraction. People will easily choose DL because there's already a vast more stuff to do. Ask someone what there's to do at Universal other than watching shows, the answer is "um, not much."
Universal will get the business they're aiming for and Disney will get theres. Whether it opens 2011, 12 or 15.
^we'll of course Universal is going for the more "adult" kind of people/kids but still Woc, Cars land, littler mermaid, star wars, a new parade, and DCA getting re-themed should make them keep trying to get something new every year not just every 2 (the Simpson ride was two years ago)
So do you not think the E Ticket Radiator Springs Racers is not a direct challenge to Universal's audience. I certainly wouldn't call it a kids ride and if the park does not view it as competition maybe it should.I don't think Universal even considers what DL is doing. I think there's plenty of room for both to exist. The way I see it, locals will likely go to both. They mostly would choose Disney over Universal any day of the year but for something like Transformers, I'd imagine they would cover both parks that year.
I don't think Universal opening Transformers would hurt Disney in the least.

Yup, Universal knows this. It's flippin' Disneyland, the most popular theme park in the world. If Universal opened up a Harry Potter world in Hollywood, Disneyland would still get 8 times the business. It doesn't matter how many rides or shows there are, Disneyland will still win. Knotts is the clear indicator of that.
^ Disneyland is not the most popular theme park in the world and especially in Florida it is starting to realize that it isn't "just disney" that mentality has led to the spread of mediocrity and as Mr. Yee always says the Decline by Degrees. It does matter how many rides or shows there are, if Universal Studios opened a resort of equal size and better quality (because at this point it is) then I think eventually people would get the message.
However in SoCal I don't see it happening ever ever ever.
