Re: USH Attractions of the Past...

Wow, this post really makes me want to rummage through the garage and look for our old family camcorder tapes, although I don't even think I have anything that can still play those tapes. I know my dad used to tape everything, including the stuff he wasn't supposed to. He had some on ride footage of ET, Backdraft, and Back to the Future as well as lots of stuff from the studio tour and many of the shows. I don't remember if he taped Conan or not, but I would love to see that again. I know in my old tapes I have the the old Spider-Man Rocks show on tape. I really need to find these things!

I remember the Flinstones show. It was my first trip to Universal Studios, and I remember the confetti blast at the end the most, because it literally felt like it was raining confetti in the theater. I do remember not liking the show too. But I was a disney princess in training back then.

Hey I wonder if anybody on here has old maps, photos, video, or anything like that related to the 1997-2000 HHN? I've looked all over the internet just to find PRs.

Re: USH Attractions of the Past...

I still remember Battle for Galactica. I wasn't a Galactica fan, but I did like the attraction. I do remember how in those days you had to get off and on the trams in the lower lot for the soundstages. I also loved the collapsing bridge, the original Kong, and Alpine Avalanche. Ditch the multi-Mummy attractions Universal! It is by no means Mummy Dearest.

Anyone remember a late '80s/early '90s era show called "Out Of This World"? It's a show about a teenager named Evie with an earthling mother and alien father who begins to gain powers at the age of 13 (like stopping time and materializing things). There was an episode at Universal and I remember the tram came to stop at the beginning of the Red Sea parting effect. The road was "flooded out", so Evie uses her powers to open the path in the lake and the dumbfounded tram driver proceeds through the lake. Evie's mother makes her change the lake back to how they found it at the end (end of the attraction's parting effect).

The movie "The Wizard" also featured Fred Savage and 2 other kids running around Universal, escaping adults who will separate him from his brother who is a video game genius come to the park to compete in a video game tournament playing Super Mario Bros 3. Part of the park's chase scene involves the kids getting out of a tram inside King Kong.

I just found an old pack of photos from around 1989 and scanned some in:

ET's communication device at the ride's exit:

The Blues Brothers perform in the old carnival games area next to Feivel's playland:

    The American Tails theater:

I was fascinated by that huge animatronic cat that had to interact flawlessly with a live costumed performer without squishing him/her.

The Battlestar Galactica ride intrigues me the most, really would have loved to see it live.

If was actually called Battle of Galactica and was part of the tram tour. I forget what now sits where this part of the tour used to be. Simpsons Ride I think?

I found some old photos from my trip in 1985 and we got a few of the Galactica part. I'll try to scan them in this weekend and post them. I think I got a good shot of the "evil emperor" character animatronic.

A lot of memories already posted here.

I loved the Battle of Galactica. In fact I told my mom that when I grew up I wanted to be the guy that comes out shooting the robots to help you escape.

I loved the Conan show. When the guy transformed into Conan was awesome. I also loved the A-Team Stunt Show spectacular. I swear I have a picture somewhere of me with the stunt men who preformed the show.

There also was a time you could do a meet n' greet with certain Transformers. In my pin collection I still have the button I got from that meet. I think I met Megatron and Optimus Prime.

I did get to sit in KITT and asked him who would win the Super Bowl that year and also got to pretend we where being chased by bad guys.

    I miss old Universal Studios.
