Re: Transformers: The Ride - OPENS SPRING 2012

I'm still confused with what ride system this is going to use. It's a dark ride, but how exactly? A track going thru a bunch of projector screens? I saw the ride vehicle "look" posted earlier, but is it going to be as elaborate (movements) as Indiana Jones or Harry Potter?

I'm pretty sure it's using the same ride system as Spiderman. I've never been on Spiderman, but I know it has moving vehicles with a mix of 3D screens & actual sets. Like Harry Potter & Indy as you said, except more advanced than pretty old Spiderman. I do not know the differences between Indy's vehicles & Spiderman's though. Probably going to look it up myself now that I'm curious.

hitomi04, I have no idea how far you are from L.A., what your financial situation is, or how difficult it would be to come back to L.A. later in the year, but an opening in March is probably not going to happen, especially since the first day of Spring isn't until March 20th. I've heard RUMORS of a May opening, which would mean you MIGHT see softs happening in April, but March would be kind of a stretch unless they get finished WAY ahead of schedule.
I'm kind of basing this on the Singapore version, for which they are promising a December opening (it says so on the construction walls). If the Singapore version is not doing softs in October(and they aren't unless they're keeping it secret somehow), I wouldn't anticipate the Hollywood version opening in March. The good news is that the ride won't be going anywhere for a long time. My suggestion would be to try to come back later on in the Summer or later, when you can also experience Carsland at DCA. But again, I don't know your situation.

I thought I would mention that Transformers in Singapore will open on December 3rd. That will give us a sneak preview on YouTube of what's to come for us at the US.

I don't think there will be that much of a difference. The exteriors of the buildings might be a little different(certainly, the Hollywood version is not going to have a themed eatery). For one thing, you're going to be wearing 3D glasses which will work with projections. Whatever is projected onto the screens will certainly be exactly the same in both locations.

According to a source I heard from (We're not just talking about Wikipedia), that both versions will be the same. As a matter of fact, Singapore's will be built off of Hollywood's blueprints.

Both attractions are identical, though only Hollywood will be using 4K projectors.

As far as the animatronics go, don't get your hopes up. There are no animatronic transformers in the attractions. Just some physical props that move here and there. This ride is all about the 3-D movies.

And honestly, it's not as good as Spiderman or Harry Potter. It misses it by "that much"... which is too bad. Having said that, the elevator lift system is amazing, simply because you don't even realize you're moving vertically.

Great attraction, but Spidey and Harry still got it a little better. And I still like Indy the most, but that's just me.

With the hard opening less than 4 weeks away (December 3rd), softs should be starting any day now, if they haven't already. Although as soon as they start doing the softs, POV videos should start showing up in YouTube. I just checked and couldn't find any.
I'm guessing that "Bill" either knows someone on the inside, our he caught a soft opening.

The facade at for Transformers at USH is starting to go up. The face of the building is being painted on, which is an odd decision, but I think something is going to go in front of it.
